Newbie Question ....film related27 Feb 2007 18:24 GMT6
So, I am sitting here with a large format field camera procurred
from school and I can't for the life of me figure out if I am supposed
to load the film holder into the camera from the left or the right.
If I load it from the left I would be loading it on the side that the

Digital vs Scanners??23 Feb 2007 05:12 GMT37
Circa 1970 I had a photo business specializing in 4x5 but have done nothing
serious since. Now I'm retired to Florida (where else :-) I would like to
get back in. I have 4x5 cameras, some old lenses, even some dark room
equipment, but absolutely no place for a dark room.  But I ...
Chinese lge format films20 Feb 2007 02:37 GMT52
On Ebay I have seen two sorts of 4x5 film: ERA and Shanghai. They are both
of 100ASA speed.
I am curious about them. Has anybody here tried them?
As the vendors usuallty prefer PayPal, is it safe to use it to that area?
Ilford Ilfochrome 6x6 filter set19 Feb 2007 19:30 GMT2
Does anyone still use these? I got a set in a bundled purchase & was
debating down down as 'gels' becasue  I personally don't see much
activity on the auction site for them. I thought I better make some
noise & find out how big a sin that was before committing the act.
A sign of the times07 Feb 2007 23:27 GMT2
I dropped by one of the local pro photo places to pick
up a few things this afternoon, and noticed a couple
of press cameras on a shelf by the checkout. Both

Focussing a Dagor07 Feb 2007 05:06 GMT8
I have just got a 130mm f6.8 Goerz Berlin dagor in Dial-set Compur that has
been CLA'd.
I have been making some test negatives and wished to find the proper
technique for focussing.
newbie question about sorting a 4x5 enlarger05 Feb 2007 23:18 GMT2
I'm refurbishing a rescued (from a university bin) DeVere 54 enlarger. It
was minus baseboard, lens panel and lens (but bellows still present) and
light source, all of which have been made good by DIY methods and eBay.
(Light source is a ply box lined with mirrors and with 4 x 60W ...
Fair value for Beseler 4x5 enlarger03 Feb 2007 02:12 GMT12
What would a fair value be for a Beseler 4x5 enlarger (model 45M?)?  It's
an older model (black crinkle paint).  Complete, in pretty good shape.  No
damage.  Excellent bellows - no holes or tears.  Wooden base is in good
condition with just a few light chemical stains.  Enlarger ...
Old Rochester plate cameras and B&L Shutter02 Feb 2007 13:08 GMT3
I have a Bausch & Lomb Unicum shutter and would welcome advice on how to
set, cock and release it properly.
I have not received it yet, but it is having a retaining ring made & a
Graphic lens panel drilled to suit.
