Tracking jet fighters with sonar01 Aug 2008 00:28 GMT32
My family and I spent the afternoon at the Wetaskiwin Air Show.  The
featured attraction was the Canadian Snowbirds, the military aerobatics
team.
The planes performed about 50 maneuvers, and I actually was able to catch
The Best Camera you ever had31 Jul 2008 16:03 GMT2
This has been done before but it's always fun to start it up again. I'd
like to limit this to film cameras, not to dump on digital, but because
they haven't been around long enough to establish the kind of tract
record this topic deserves. And I'd like to vote for my own favorite ...

126 film in Kodak Instamatic30 Jul 2008 04:19 GMT1
Instamatic Retro: Holga, Diana, Lomo camera fans:
Instamatics are the original lo-fi plastic lens art cameras.
You can easily use regular 35 mm film in cheapo leaky blurry
Instamatic cameras.

With the upcoming total solar clipse on August 1st in mind, I was wondering
if anyone has any tips or advice on how best to photograph an event like
this?

1680 x 1050 wallpaper efforts by yours truly29 Jul 2008 11:46 GMT6
These pictures have been edited specifically for use as widescreen
wallpaper for monitors with a 1680 x 1050 screen. I've tried to choose
shots that aren't too busy with attention-grabbing detail that makes
it tricky to spot icons on your desktop, should you wish to use a

An old angle on an old plane, but it was fun getting up close and personal
with some of these fighting machines.
BTW, it pays to be tall when you want a handheld shot top-side of a fighter
Help with photo28 Jul 2008 01:30 GMT3
Looking for a certain photo. I thought it was one of Henri Cartier-
Bresson's but can't find it. The black-and-white photo was of a man
wearing slacks (no shirt, no shoes) lying on the floor holding a baby,
smiling, eyes closed. It was taken from up above. I think it was the
Canon SD750 vs SD1100 (SD1100is) - Image stabilizer work?27 Jul 2008 18:08 GMT9
I checked out both of those cameras to some extent. Didn't get much
hands-on with the 1100. I'm trying to figure out how much difference
the image stabilizer will make.
The large view-finder on the 750 is great. But I've noticed that I get

Revisited some of the ancient cameras I have owned. My first one was a Kodak
Model 2. (Box Brownie, 1920) You had a choice of 3 apertures, that's all. We
have come a long way since then. But, when it comes to simplicity, the

Any recommendations for software that will convert a high resolution
digital photo to 72 dpi? I know about Adobe Photoshop, but am
wondering if there is something less expensive out there.
Thanks.
