curious frame in lightning movie31 May 2008 21:14 GMT21
There was an electrical storm nearby a few weeks ago. I set up my camera
outside on a tripod and put it on movie mode. Within a minute or two
there was a nearby lightning flash captured on the movie. When I played
the movie back a frame at a time I noticed that just before the main
Hiking Monopod31 May 2008 00:36 GMT3
I generally take my TLR hiking with me.I usually just set it up on some
stationary object. I am debating taking my tripod but it is awfully heavy.
I do not have a hiking pole and was considering a mono-pod that doubles
as a hiking pole.
Rear sync flash30 May 2008 13:12 GMT3
I own a Nikon D50. In the user manual it says that rear sync flash will fire
the flash just before the shutter closes. This is what the camera does but
it also fires a lower intensity flash when the shutter opens. Is this
normal? What is the purpose of the initial flash?

Buying Nikon D80 any comments welcome28 May 2008 09:48 GMT31
So I have decided to purchase a new Nikon D80 with a 28-80 & 70-300 nikon
lense.  Any comments are welcome good or bad.  If anyone has one and could
post some pics shot with it, that would be nice.  You will probably see me
here more often once I get it.  Should arrive by next ...
Dark photos26 May 2008 11:36 GMT28
I took this Nikon D70 shot in fairly bright light, but for some reason, the
shot came out very dark looking. I had exp comp set to zero and WB to auto,
ISO to 200. My Canon Digital Rebel would show a shot like this much
brighter, so why is this Nikon D70 shot so dark?
Printing Contact Sheet With EXIF26 May 2008 11:13 GMT3
Is there a program that will print the EXIF information beside each
thumbnail on a contact sheet?.  It would be very convenient for
keeping a record of what works and what doesn't for future reference.
This evening I took 60 pictures of the full moon and it would be so
Second line lens opinions sought26 May 2008 01:42 GMT7
I hopes of NOT starting a holy war, I am asking for opinions of second line
lenses.  I want to replace my conventional Tamron 28-80mm lens with one
more geared toward digital.  I know I cannot afford the Nikon f2.8 version
($1,700) and Tamron, Sigma and Tokina make a lens at that ...
Does Zoom Lenses create Dust?26 May 2008 01:39 GMT8
Would using a zoom lens on a DSLR camera create dust on the sensor
merely by focusing??
Someone told me that, and suggested a fixed focal lens. Is this true? I
have a 70-300mm zoom lens that I rarely use but would like to try it on
reduce pictures??25 May 2008 15:26 GMT9
We have to print out a lot of photographs at work (running WinXP & Office
XP) - 5 megapixel photos are taking an absolute age for our printer to
figure out then print
The pictures don't have to be that good (printer only prints 600 x 600

Upgrading my digital camera25 May 2008 01:28 GMT13
I currently have a Samsung Digital Camera that I purchased about 4
years ago.
However, now I'm thinking that I need an upgrade because although the
camera works during the day, any night time pictures that are taken
do you love to take photos?24 May 2008 23:56 GMT6
I found a website that will pay you for your photos... it is
completely free of any costs or hassles.  The better the pictures the
more you could make.  This will not cost you a dime... and if you
already have alot of digital pictures just sitting there not doing
Camera advice24 May 2008 21:03 GMT4
I was thinking of getting one of these to replace my ageing Olympus
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/133118.  Does anyone know if it’s any
good (looks like a bargain to me)?  If not can anyone recommend
something for the amateur user that would be better?
