Portrait Photography Preserves History
Portrait photographers have very special skills for they capture the
essence of their subjects if they are good.  Portrait photographers
take pictures of tiny babies and their grandmothers that the family
Canon EOS 40D08 Mar 2008 13:28 GMT58
I currently have a Sony DSC H1, and I've outgrown it.
Went to the camera store today to buy a Nikon D40x with the two lenses.  Had
my check book in my pocket.  The camera tekkie, a girl (woman) with military
and LEO experience steered me away from the D40x to the Canon 40D.  In ...

Is there someone using any of the combinations in subject ?
What settings (whitebalance, basecurve, icc ..) are you standard using
for results that are comparable to the jpg coming out of the camera ?
Digital Sensor06 Mar 2008 18:18 GMT6
Does anyone recommend a cheap way to check and clean the sensor of my
DSLR camera?  I read that dust gets in easily. I have seen some tools
that clean it and check it for dust and particles, but was wondering
if there is a cheap or free alternative?
tripod for EOS-1Ds Mark III06 Mar 2008 17:27 GMT10
my wife just got this camera. from what i can tell it's a pro grade
model. however, she has this cheap $30 tripod still. i'm afraid the
camera will fall off it one day since the camera probably weights
more.

New Camera Help - Depth Of Focus05 Mar 2008 15:42 GMT13
I've recently bought my first Digital SLR, a Nikon D40 with 18-55mm
lens. The quality of pictures it's taking is great. I'm mostly playing
around with the preset scenes before getting in to the more
complicated settings. The only trouble I am having is with the depth
Best Free Photo editing software?05 Mar 2008 15:18 GMT16
Is there any free programs out there that are similar to say, Paint
Shop Pro? What are considered to be the best and which one should we
avoid?

where to start?05 Mar 2008 15:10 GMT25
I got a EOS 350D for my birthday, and would like to learn about photography
I've looked at a fiew You-tube video lessons, bought a few magazines and the

Nationsphotolab.com? Anyone used them?04 Mar 2008 22:14 GMT1
I'm looking on their website and I love the prices, but I'm leary
because it's so much lower than places like pictobooks and art
leather. I've done some self-mount albums in the past, but it's too
scary!! I'd hate to screw up! Has anyone tried them?
