Click-Bang?19 Jul 2007 13:29 GMT11
I thought I'd tell you what happened this evening.
I was out with my wife in the car and went to a place called Grangemouth (in
Scotland). It's a huge oil refinery and looks like something space-age or

portable studio lighting kit19 Jul 2007 09:41 GMT7
Can anyone recommend a worthwhile portable studio lighting kit for a
cheapskate amateur, wana-be professional.  I have a Nikon D50 if that
matters.  It is my hope to find something under $500, but I expect
that to be difficult.

DSLR battery question18 Jul 2007 18:58 GMT6
How low do you allow your battery to run before changing it out for a
fully changed battery?
And, in general, does a half or more discharged battery affect performance?
TIA,
Why I Went Back to Film Photography18 Jul 2007 00:52 GMT131
Hey All,
First, I want to say I am not bashing DSLRs. They are excellent for
their purpose. But I feel  like I should promote the reasons, other than
technical, I think people should consider shooting with film. I speak
Shutter release cable17 Jul 2007 02:29 GMT38
I have a Sony DSC H1, and I am building a mount for it so that I can get
about a foot from feeding hummingbirds.  I need a shutter release cable that
is about a foot long.  The Sony does not have a pre drilled pre tapped
receptacle for the common shutter release cable.  So, I ...

can anyone suggest a good slide show software that writes to DVD for
regular dvd players that will allow text, and transitions and music?
I tried arcsoft photostudio expressions and I get errors everytime I
use it.
Shooting in RAW mode..quick question.16 Jul 2007 06:47 GMT24
Quick Q about RAW shooting...
am i correct in assuming that RAW is essentially a digital negative,  the
'bare bones' of an image , different to a jpeg where the camera adds it's
own image processing?

Digital/35mm focal length question15 Jul 2007 21:48 GMT13
I see conversions from digital focal length to 35mm focal length in EXIF
data on folks photo galleries, i.e. 800mm (35mm equivalent=1200mm).  Is
this conversion on any kind of curve or is it a constant?

D200 discontinued at Costco...hmmm..15 Jul 2007 10:17 GMT23
I've been looking at the D200 lately and found that Costco has just
about the best *legitimate" price out there at about $1550.  That was
last week.  This week, it's no longer on the website.
I stopped down :) to Costco yesterday and was told that they no longer
