When I try to take pictures of jewellery in a white tent and a 'Day light' fluorescing I still get grey images I was advised that it has to do with 'metering' Can anyone explain me what does that mean

Adjusting the D70 to 1600 ASA makes it great for night photography. I recently took the D70 on a photo shoot at night and found it excellent with color saturation increased and ASA set to 1600. Also there are a number of helpful web sites which discuss changing the default factory

I was trying out my flash and was just shooting anything in the kitchen. When I looked at the pictures the olive oil (which is green) was red, I thought I was seeing things so I checked the bottle, it is definitely green. Somebody else try it, maybe it's my camera, or maybe I AM ...

My impression is that JPEGs lose between 40 and 60% measured in KBs. Is there a way to avoid that loss? Should pictures maybe be kept as GIF or bitmaps? The loss seems to occur if I make a minor change in a photo and save it.
