watermark...??22 Aug 2006 17:56 GMT1
im really not too worried about someone stealing one of my pictures and

looking for a photo in one of Europe's national libraries?22 Aug 2006 17:49 GMT1
The European Library http://www.theeuropeanlibrary.org/ offers free
access to the combined resources of the national libraries of Europe,
including their photo collections! Some examples are listed below.
In short, The European Library is the most centralized and recognized
Panoramic photo22 Aug 2006 06:41 GMT3
To all the photography experts out there: how do you take a panoramic shot
with a compact digital camera? I have a Canon Powershot SD400 and it gets
less view than my eyes can get of a room. I want a photo with the widest
view I can get in one frame.

Convert 35mm slides to DVD21 Aug 2006 18:37 GMT4
I've just re-discovered about 200 slides in the loft of my
'back-packing' days, so they're at least 20 years old.
I would now like to transfer the slides to DVD.  For sure, I've googled
to see what price I'm likely to pay commercially, but I created these
personal slide viewers21 Aug 2006 18:03 GMT5
I have a little old view master pana-vue 2, $9.95 you know...
but the lens is rather dreadful, uncoated and warped, and I
would like to check for sharpness as well as see a much nicer
image that is magnified.  More than just seeing what the image

Any Pentax 645NII owners here?20 Aug 2006 21:41 GMT2
Just before I retired about three years ago, I purchased a new Pentax 67II
SLR and I had big plans for it!  Well I used it once to photograph my
daughter's wedding and it has sat in the case ever since.  I guess it's
because it's just too much camera for me, I have a Nikon F4 ...

Look-up table for Canon's US-UK models?19 Aug 2006 23:50 GMT3
Is there a look-up table somewhere on the web for the US & European
names of Canon's models?
For example:

ISO versus noise test19 Aug 2006 08:38 GMT1
I just completed a test of ISO versus noise.  I thought that the results
might be interesting to the group.
The test setup was as follows:
A target consisting of a Gretag-Macbeth color checker (the 6 columns x 4
The brains response to safe familiar environments19 Aug 2006 04:57 GMT5
Does the brain dampen emotional response to familiar environment over
time?  Will someone exposed to the same environment day after day begin
to see less contrast and saturation, even movement, as a survival
mechanism to deal with safe and familiar environments?  In other words,
Kings Landing Historical Settlement19 Aug 2006 03:50 GMT11
I went to Kings Landing Historical Settlement in New Brunswick last
weekend. My family and I had a great time. I took a few snapshots, but
I'm not 100% convinced with the exposures. It was a bright sunny day
and even though I used a polarizer,
EF 50mm F1.8 gone soft19 Aug 2006 02:21 GMT3
I've had the above lens for a while, but I think it took a knock and now
it's soft and awful at wider apertures...
Is it worth my while pulling it to bits to try to fix it (I've dismantled
many an object in my life, but never a lens), or for the money am I just
How to choose SD Memory18 Aug 2006 10:25 GMT3
I am in the UK. I'm thinking of buying my first digital camera and am
trying to price up the whole package and will need some SD Memory.
I guess the speed of the memory affects how long it takes to store (or
read) the data from a picture.  And of course I don't want a lag on my
