i have a D70s with the standard kit lens (18-70). I am planning to buy

Just bought a D50 with the 18 - 55.
What's a good second lens for this camera?
I've heard the Nikon 70 - 300 G, while "plasticy", is still pretty good
optically, but I'm more interested in good AF speed, as I plan to shoot
