Film vs Digital11 Feb 2006 16:34 GMT5
I was thinking today of people's experiences with digital vs film, not
a scientific study, per se, but what you've experienced with how a
sensor captures a picture vs how a film does. See

I'm looking for suggestions for a "good" quality shirt pocket size
digital camera. Around  6-8 meg should be ok and a year or so old is
ok. I presently have a Can. 1DM2, Oly C5050 and a Leica  Digilux 2,
each of which I'd highly recommend. Someplace someone suggested a

Where to start with learning camera repair?09 Feb 2006 03:42 GMT2
Where should I start with learning to repair older (mechanical)
cameras? I've read that your first attempt will almost certainly ruin
the camera, so do it on something you don't care that much about.. I've
also read that a great place to start is with a broken Argus C3, as ...
do you use UV protective filters?08 Feb 2006 23:00 GMT25
Do you always use a UV protective filter on your SLR lenses or do you
prefer not to use them?  I'm somewhat new to SLR photography and I have UV
filters for all my lenses but I've decided to just be extra careful and use
a hood to physically protect the lens.  As far as UV ...

How many bits per color are needed08 Feb 2006 02:06 GMT40
One of the questions that gets debated from time to time is how many
bits / color are needed for an image.  The debate is usually between 8
and 16 bit per color with the argument that 8 bits is not enough to
handle the shadow part of the image.  I got playing around with this

fujica upgrade advice07 Feb 2006 11:15 GMT5
I recently dug my 20 year old Fujica 605 35 mm camera out of the closet and
decided to try photography again. I had barely used the thing..Maybe three
rolls of film through the years. The original lens had dried up and
basically shreded when I tried to adjust the focus. I went to ...
B&W Questions07 Feb 2006 03:01 GMT4
Today's question is: When shooting B&W digital photos does one shoot in
the B&W mode or does one shoot in color and discard the color info.. I
have been shooting various films of the B&w Flavour over the years in my
Nikkormat FT3 and dont want to ever stop but wonder if anyone ...
