daguerreotype08 Jan 2006 22:46 GMT2
How susceptible are old daguerreotype glass images to moderate light. I have
a few old ones that I would love to display, but I also don't want them to
fade... What are my options?
Thanks

Newbie question: What is RAW?07 Jan 2006 21:55 GMT10
I have just recently purchased a new Nikon 8400 camera, and I really like
its picture quality and I'm still learning its functionality.
I have a question that might sound silly to you pros. I haven't found a good
answer from the web which can explain in layman terms of what RAW is, ...
Macro Flash Questions07 Jan 2006 04:25 GMT3
Hello group,
I have to find a way to take shots of electronic PCBs and chips.
I use a Canon 20D SLR and found out that using daylight (sun) with the
right angle (so no or almost no reflection/shadow) gives a very good result.
An apology to digital shooters06 Jan 2006 16:19 GMT5
For some time, I have bashed your posted digital images as being pixelized
and flat awfull to look at.  It was not until I was putting together my own
website (I shoot film) and was getting a first hand look at my scanned images
from film that I realized that my images looked like ...
EROS Marilyn Monroe 1962  !!!06 Jan 2006 01:11 GMT3
On June 21st, 1962, Bert Stern took the last studio portraits of Marilyn
Monroe. 6 weeks before her tragic death.
I have this hard cover book for sale on Ebay. It is in great shape. My
parents bought it new back in 1962 and it has been stuffed away until now.

While I have had a camera slung around my next for over 25 years, I am not
good at computers.  My wife set this up for us and did a good job.
The images are compressed in jpeg and watermarked which was a new thing for

Konica-Minolta Cameras Lens05 Jan 2006 13:32 GMT4
I was wondering what lens mounting configuration is used on their
digital interchangeable lens cameras.  I have a Konica Autoreflex T from
the 1970's and would like to know if my lens would fit these cameras.

Scanning negatives (Nikon Coolscan V)05 Jan 2006 12:05 GMT4
Any experiences out there in terms of how long does it take
to scan 35mm negatives with this scanner?
I'm interested in having a good estimate, since a local
photo store has rental, and they do rent this scanner, for
Sony DSC-W5 or DSC-W1 digital camera05 Jan 2006 11:18 GMT1
I bought this camera recently. A little gem. Since I like to photograph
wild
birds, I am now thinking of buying Sony's tele-lens converter 2.6X,  which,
Sony claims, is of high quality. I am not talking about taking shots at very

I assume there is no moderator of this group so that we have to browse
thru the cheap sex ads before we can find an interesting article. Or do
we have a moderator who is on vacation?

Nikon Coolpix 210004 Jan 2006 02:11 GMT3
Two questions about my wife's Nikon Coolpix 2100:
1) Battery life seems to be measured in hours. She has tried both off
the shelf Ni-Cads and the "Coolpix" rechargeable batteries that came
with the camera, but they frequently fail while she is shooting even a
