Questions on fisheye lense, and step-up rings17 Oct 2005 14:07 GMT7
I'm sort of new to photography, and I finally got my hands on an
awesome 180degree fisheye lense by Kenko. Unfortunately it seems the
official kenko adapter that came with it is for 55mm, and my Canon S2
IS camera has a 52mm mount. I purchased a 52-55 ring and it works, but

photo hosting services17 Oct 2005 01:41 GMT6
Wondering what features to look for in a professional photo hosting
solution. I sell some stock photo but mostly do commercial assignments.
Which features will help facilitate my business the most?  Which features
are most useful to you?  There are many solutions with many different
This would be good17 Oct 2005 00:59 GMT4
My camera has a tiny little display on the back that is shamed by point and
shoot cameras costing a tenth of the price. What would be good is if someone
out there could invent an accessory viewfinder display (large) that connects
to the firewire connection either by cable or ...
Pre-purchase questions on Panasonic FZ-30 reliability and add-on lenses16 Oct 2005 16:30 GMT2
I'm just about ready to order an FZ-30; unfortunately none of the local
"big box" shops carry it, and the only real cameras store around here
doesn't carry any Panasonic gear. So I'll probably buy online (I already
have a vendor selected) after I get just a little more info...
Light metering, grey card.16 Oct 2005 05:31 GMT15
I'd like to check my understanding of a couple of things related to
exposure, stops, reflectance.....
1.   Would I be right in saying that a pure white flat surface will reflect
100% of the incident light falling on it?       In which case, spot metering
RAW is WAR16 Oct 2005 04:24 GMT88
I noticed that when I shot some pictures in the RAW/Adobe RGB format on a
1DS, and then converted them to sRGB, they are flat and colourless prints
(photographic process), whereas when I shoot in sRGB jpeg, the prints are
much more natural and punchy. Any ideas why?

Need some brainstorming, possibly help15 Oct 2005 06:39 GMT10
Anyone have any clue how to make some kind of wheelchair mount for a camera?
There's a local boy who was severely injured during a fall while he was
photographing inside an abandoned building. He's become a quadriplegic but I
believe he could use a hand held remote or something ...
Minolta 18-70 digital lens15 Oct 2005 04:59 GMT19
Just after other opinions to get a balanced view on the new-ish minolta
digital 18-70mm lens that comes with the 5D (I am buying the 7D this week).
Apparently it is a little on the soft side.  Does anyone have any comments
on this and why it may not be a great idea to get it or is ...
using Pentax lenses with Canon EOS15 Oct 2005 02:07 GMT1
I would like to use my Pentax lenses on a Canon EOS camera. Can this be
done? Is there an adapter or something that will let me do this?
Results: High resolution stamp photography15 Oct 2005 01:17 GMT18
Awhile back I posted a comment indicating that I was planning to take
pictures of stamps and mount them, along with the original, as a form of
art.  I thought I would follow up with the results of my work.
I wanted to get as high a resolution as possible within reason.  I used a
What to buy14 Oct 2005 21:05 GMT1
I still use my old film Canon A1 often enough, it is an extensive
setup, but it is time to say goodby to film for the most part. I can`t
now afford a Rebel or the top line portable and need a small camera. I
want a pocketable very high quality photo out of my new digital.  I am
pixels14 Oct 2005 17:30 GMT7
I am looking for a small non slr such as the Sony dsc w5- w7. I have
used a non digital Canon A1 for years and would shoot only very fine
grain film and slides. I do not plan on many large prints but want
quality .  I do not completly understand the pixel quality issue.
Darkroom (Red Light) with sleeves over flouresent light tubes?14 Oct 2005 13:52 GMT4
Is it possible to use a regular flouresent tube light fixture with a red
sleeve over it to create a safe darkroom?
What I mean is... Can I take a regular 4' ceiling flourescent fixture with
the four flouresent tubes in them - get some red plastic sleeves and put
