Seek SLR Recommendation For Rank Amateur22 Jul 2005 00:21 GMT12
Just gave away my 990, still have a teeny camera for pocket use.
Now I want to dabble in SLR.
What I think I want:

How reliable is the Canon 20D?21 Jul 2005 16:02 GMT22
I am very keen to make a switch to Canon and would like to start off with a
D20 body. Being a Nikon user, I know how reliable Nikon cameras are - D100
is tough and solid BUT I feel the time for a change has come. Not concerning
myself with the Pro-level bodies like D2X or Canon ...
Need advice on a good news reader that cross post behind my back!21 Jul 2005 10:56 GMT8
I just discovered that this MigraineSlop Express has two problems that was
forcing me to spam without my knowing it!!
1. I cannot reply via email because this program has only one mailbox config
option, when my ISP requires two, one for incoming and one for outgoing.
Nikon 990 Drivers For Win XP Home Edition?21 Jul 2005 01:52 GMT4
I just gave away my 990 to a close family member.
Went up to their place to try to install the driver, but didn't have any luck.
My expectation was that with the 990 Driver installed on their Windows box, I'd
be able to plug the 990's USB cable into the PC and have the pix on it's ...
ERROR 99 with Canon 300D19 Jul 2005 22:56 GMT10
Very often when I take pictures, my camera would just ''jam'' and an error
99 would appear in the back panel. I would then have to turn the camera off,
turn it on again, reset it again, and reshoot again.
This is not something that happens once a week....but I would say that about ...
Artist looking for photos to paint from19 Jul 2005 15:05 GMT15
I'm a painter working in a photorealist style looking for the subject
of my next painting.  My technique is to try to copy as closely as
possible the photograph, so the viewer of the painting has to study the
painting closely to determine if it is really a painting.
Bell and Howell 10 megapixel camera19 Jul 2005 14:13 GMT9
Does anybody have any experience with this camera, the one with the 3X
Optical Zoom and 4x Digital Zoom for $399.00. There are two models, this
one and another one for $299 which does not have optical zoom? I am
interested in it for the clarity of pictures. I am not interested in ...
anyone use the canon 70-300 DO IS USM?19 Jul 2005 10:21 GMT2
any comments?
I've read all the reviews I can find, and they vary greatly.
i've never used 'L' glass, so won't be comparing against that quality, as
i've never used it.
Cloning People in Portraits (digital)18 Jul 2005 19:41 GMT4
Someone here posted a picture where they'd cloned themselves several times.
Mind sharing your Photoshop trick?
I've tried to do something similar several times by merging layers but it's
just not working out for me. Short of duplicating layers over & over then
fuji finepix S2 - purple images18 Jul 2005 15:23 GMT2
Today i wanted to use my finepix S2 for a shoot. I switched the camera
on and the first image i took was deep purple all over. The camera
works OK - controls, AF - except for the picture quality. All images i
take are purple, without any detail. If i use the flash, i can see some
A few Irish Landscapes18 Jul 2005 11:03 GMT2
Any advice on how to improve these would be greatly appreciated. I tried
experimenting with shutter times and B/w on the 350D. Some worked these are
the best 12 from about 300..... I think I am getting a little better ?

Black and white film (Ilford Delta 400), dark neutral drop-sheet for
the background.  Nikon F4, Tamron 28-105 zoom @ 105mm/f5.6, Nikon

the left and above the lens).  Hoya HMC 25A red filter, pushed two

Could you all direct me to some street photography sites?
I like that, and candid type shooting.
Thank you,
Bob
Web version utility for OS X17 Jul 2005 19:54 GMT1
I'm having trouble creating web versions of my images. Photoshop Elements
seems to create relatively large files. iView Media Pro allows me to create
Jpegs of the right size, and the file sizes are small, but it doesn't apply
any sharpening.
Nikon D70 RAW + custom curves question...17 Jul 2005 00:27 GMT5
I'm after some info/suggestions about how you use custom curves with your raw NEF files.
I am developing a piece of software that allows you to upload curves into the D70 custom curve area and am now starting to add the
support for raw NEF files. I have it loading them and ...
