CMOS x CCD sensors.15 Jun 2005 12:56 GMT3
Dear members:
I am interested in your opinions on the differences between CCD and CMOS
sensors for SLR digital cameras. Which one is the best ? Which provides the
best image quality, color fidelity and reproduction, greater color space or
RAW converters available.15 Jun 2005 12:10 GMT1
Dear members:
Knowing that Photoshop CS's Camera Raw is probably (in fact almost
certainly) the best RAW file converter available today, I would like to read
your opinions and suggestions on other RAW converters available as well as
high altitude photography - which camera to use?14 Jun 2005 21:40 GMT2
Greetings all,
A couple of weeks ago I launched a weather balloon equipped with 35mm camera
into the sky to take shots of earth, clouds, and land marks.
My next balloon will attempt to capture the curvature of the earth from some

How do you determine the value of a photograph?
A roadie, also an acquaintance from many years ago, contacted us about using
some of our photos for an upcoming book. He didn't make any offer of
restitution for the use. The book will be a remembrance of sorts of Stevie

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ20 - opinions?14 Jun 2005 02:38 GMT2
This camera looks pretty good according to dpreview and steve's.
Any reason why a dslr would be worth the extra hundreds of $$$?
Anyone using Lumix who would care to comment? Has anyone used say Canon
EOS 350D or pentax ist and also the Lumix? I would appreciate your thoughts.
fujifilm s2pro CCD failed - fixed outside of warranty13 Jun 2005 22:04 GMT8
Just got my s2pro camera back from Fujufilm Australia.
The CCD suddenly failed after less than 6000 photos.
My previous (consumer) digital camera lasted over 15000 pics.
Looking at dpreview and google, this appears to be a known problem.

Inside Picture: Flash vs High ISO13 Jun 2005 18:52 GMT6
Lets take for this exemple a wedding inside a normally lit church.
Is it better to have a good flash at normally ISO, or to use a lens with
wide apperture and push the ISO to 800-1600?
And if for that exemple, lens is better, with one would be better: the 85 mm
72mm -> 52mm step down ring?13 Jun 2005 16:56 GMT1
Does anyone make this size ring?  I have found 72->58, but that's as
low as I can find.  I suppose I could go 72->62->52, but I don't want
to add in another factor if I don't have to...

Comparison between D70 and 350D?13 Jun 2005 16:35 GMT10
I've read reviews for the Canon 350D (Rebel XT) and the Nikon D70.
Does any here have experience with both cameras?  If so, which do you
like better and why?  I am looking for a digital SLR primarily for
nature photography including astrophotography.   Thanks!
