I am looking to build a small collection of lenses for my canon 300D, I
understand that quality isn't cheep, but I don't want to sacrifice quality
for quantity. I want to purchase a macro lens to do close ups of flowers,
and insects, I also want to do some wide angle shots, and ...

I'm not a hobbyist but I like to take good pictures. My last camera is a
Minolta Dynax 3xi. No great shakes, but meets my needs generally. I want to
go digital with something comparable in quality (but not necessarily DSLR
most of which is out of my current budget).

Can anyone tell me if you can get a digital compact that is capable of
macro photography

My friend's son was in a play at school so I thought it would be a good time
to practice taking pictures in a theatre.  I used a Canon 70-200mm F2.8 lens
