Which SLR to buy30 Nov 2004 19:33 GMT6
A friend of mine wants to buy a good quality new SLR and a set of reasonably
priced lenses. Any specific recommendations?  Anything wrong with the
plastic body models, or are they just as good as the older metal-body
cameras? Thanks...
Newbie question re uploads for printing30 Nov 2004 02:54 GMT1
Spouse and I are strictly point and shoot photographers.
We have a Canon PowerShot we're very happy with, and have enjoyed learning
about the special features.  On a recent trip to the midwest, I experimented
with the panorama feature, and when we returned from our trip I was able ...
I'm thinking of buying a secondhand Nikon F4 ...30 Nov 2004 01:19 GMT5
I am thinking of buying a secondhand Nikon F4 (price approx. USD 750, GBP 325).
I live in Korea, so I don't trust the vendor to tell me the truth about the
camera's history (if you know Korean's you'll know what I mean).
I would like to know what I need to look for to check the ...
D-70 vs. 840030 Nov 2004 00:18 GMT1
Yes, i am fully aware that the D70 rocks the world, and I would love
to get one, but the 8400 intrigues me.  I have played with it at the
camera shop, and have taken a picture or 2 and printed it out, but
does anyone out there have an 8400 and love it?  Or hate it?  I am
Question Re Quality of Digital Cameras29 Nov 2004 22:50 GMT5
I am trying to decide whether to buy a digital camera good enough to
take close up shots of jewelry (2-3 foot distance).  My present cheapo
digital camera can;t handle such close up shots (they get blurry).
Can digital cameras in the $300-500 range take such close up shots, or
Exposure Compensator29 Nov 2004 22:41 GMT12
Is my camera's exposure compensator useless?
I read somewhere that any exposure compensation you do in-camera won't
be noticeable once you get your prints back from the photo lab.
Epson Printer Question29 Nov 2004 22:29 GMT1
I currently am using an R-800 (LOVE IT!!!). It is being used for all my
printing. This is the first Epson that I have used as my all-arround printer
(used HP before this).
I realize that when you turn on the Epson it goes through a

Firmware updates available for the Digital Rebel cameras.

anyhting on the Canon Site.
Equipment choice - wildlife photography29 Nov 2004 21:00 GMT3
Am travelling Oz and have a particular interest in birds of prey.
Currently only have a point and click digital camera which doesn't do
any justice to the subject.
Any advice on a more suitable (but affordable) camera??
hardwire PC sync cords together?29 Nov 2004 18:32 GMT4
I want to be able to fire four flash heads at once, without using the
slaves, since these would be constantly set off by amateur camera flashes in
the room at an event. The sync. terminals are just 1/4" guitar plugs, so can
I just get some guitar leads, and plug them all into a home ...

Which digitals offer remote shutter release?29 Nov 2004 08:05 GMT11
being a great fan of the old 20' air releases for maximum steadiness
of tripod-mounted SLRs, I was wondering if any of these modern
digitals offer a similar facility for remote shutter triggering by
wire?

Nikon N80 opinions?29 Nov 2004 02:46 GMT2
A friend is interested in buying a film SLR, and is seriously considering
the Nikon N80.  Is this the best new camera in its price class or do you
have suggestions for a superior model?  Also, do you have recommendations
about specific zoom lenses to consider?    Thanks.
Raw files29 Nov 2004 01:24 GMT7
I have owned a Fuji Finpix s7000 for a few months and been using the
software that came with it to convert the Raw files.
Are there any other conversion programs that I could use within Photoshop 7.
Many thanks
