The specifications for my CanoScan D2400U scanner say that it has an optical resolution of 2400x4800 dpi. The accompanying software has a drop down box for specifiying the scanning resolution.

I just purchased a Canon 10D and I have noticed that when I try to take photos of beautiful flowers the colors don't seem as rich as they should. The vibrant purples lose their vibrancy, the almost flourescent greens
