| types of zooming | 28 Jul 2009 17:53 GMT | 8 |
My question is this: Using a digital camera which can zoom in on a photo THAT IT HAS PREVIOUSLY TAKEN (i.e. not using digital zoom in order to capture an image) and the crop the image, again in the camera: will the resulting image be better than opening the first/uncropped image ...

Dear photo-fans! I am thinking about getting rid of my analog negatives, of my dia positives and of my analog dia projector. But which equipment is really good? I want to keep the resolution and optical quality of my analog material. The films

Thought I might add my recent excursion! http://www.ifyoucan.org.uk/Santiago/index.html I was trying out a new Canon 40D and 18-200mm lens. Tied myself in exposure knots with a fair few of those photos, but luckily shot RAW, so

| Kenko 1.4x teleconverter | 11 Jul 2009 11:20 GMT | 7 |
Well, it arrived and it fits on the camera (D50) and lens (Nikon AF-S 70-300 f4.5), which still appear to work as designed. It seems reasonably well made. The VR seems to be a little frantic, but it still works. The AF is a bit

| Nikon DX telephoto | 10 Jul 2009 00:40 GMT | 13 |
Anyone recommend a 500mm or thereabouts telephoto for a Nikon D50 that isn't going to cost about 50% of what I paid for my first house? The Nikon f4.5 (IIRC) is six *grand*!!!! It's for photographing the birds in the garden - the 70-300 I already have

| Let's start a thread - UK photo mags... | 09 Jul 2009 22:41 GMT | 8 |
I haven't read a photo mag for 20 years, I used to get AP (from 1953-65) and Leica fotografie (from 1956 - 1984). But they all seemed to repeat themselves. Earlier this year, courtesy of Panasonic, I received three free copies

| Any compact camera which can be USB-controlled for 1 pic per second? | 09 Jul 2009 11:39 GMT | 7 |
I have an unusual requirement to take a still image, a few megapixels or so, every second. It should be saved over USB if possible but that may be a bit difficult given typical USB speeds, so saving to an internal 8/16GB SD

| Converting RAW files using Photoshop - Costs | 07 Jul 2009 10:35 GMT | 17 |
I think I've been a little stitched up... My niece took loads of pictures at my daughter's wedding and I offered to cover her costs. I've just received a 'bill' from her not only for her train from London to Southampton (£80+), but also for the 'processing' of

It’s not that long ago that Kodak announced they were closing one of their processing plants and I think it was then that it hit me that Digital was here to stay and indeed take over from film. I was particularly concerned when I found my Minolta lenses would not fit the
