I'm not an experienced photographer by any means. However I do find myself
taking quite a lot of photos.
I'm looking for a tripod and web searching has led me to consider UniLock
or Benbo.

When my Ricoh camera formats an SD card it creates the following directory
structure
DCIM  100RICOH
MISC

Sadly I still have a problem with DSLRs.
The problem I have is that these cameras still have a relic of the film era
in them, that is the rising mirror and the pentaprism.
Why can't DSLRs have an electronic viewfinder in them?

I have a Canon Pixma MP800R all in one printer. I've tried scanning a
photograph with it but each time the scan comes out darker than the
original. I've increased the brightness using Paint Shop Pro but the
scan comes out more pink. I've tried decreasing the red but then it

This is under OS X 10.4.11. Trying to scan Kodachrome 25 slides.
I am having some difficulty finding the best software to drive this
scanner so any comments would be appreciated:
1) Using the allegedly latest CyberView driver at the scanace site,

Do they REALLY support only Microsoft and Macintosh?  That is a real
pain, if so.  A Web search finds that Ricoh have ported Linux onto
one of their cameras, but that's not terribly helpful ....

Quick straw poll. It's probably one of those issues that's been done to
death but I am curious to know whether there is a consensus.
When printing specifically to have a photograph framed what choice of
peper (matt/lustre/glossy) works best?
