film scanner31 Jan 2007 20:28 GMT6
I've been using a Konica Minolta Dimage Scan Dual IV with some success,
but its transport mechanism is now failing - it seems as if some teeth
from a gear wheel or similar are worne, and the negative holder has
needed a gentle push when scanning. This has become much worse recently.
Camera Backpacks- Advice??31 Jan 2007 18:54 GMT12
I do quite a bit of walking in the Dales/North Yorks and want to take my D70
plus a couple of lenses and ND filters.  Not much gear really for a backpack
but I'm thinking of getting one of those purpose made jobs like the Tamrac
Trekker or Lowpro so its more accessible than my ...

can do to make sure that your photos are as good a they can be. These
are by no means the only things that will give you better photos but
Pentax K10D27 Jan 2007 02:09 GMT34
As I use a telephoto in the great outdoors it seems the K10D would be
an improvement on my *ist, given its 10 Mpixels, anti shake and anti
splash seals + other nice features. I dont suppose anyone can suggest
a reason I shouldnt load my credit card with even more debt?
What type of media26 Jan 2007 20:52 GMT7
Just bought a Fuji S5600.
I need to buy some a Xd card for it not but looking on the net there are
different types, the M/H and the M or H.
The current 16mb card doesnt say what it is and Fuji support is closed till
Porst 35mm f1.8 M42 screw lens25 Jan 2007 14:56 GMT3
Has anyone come across this make before? Any idea who made them (my
guess is Zeiss Jena or somewhere else in the old Soviet bloc), and if
they're worth having? The wide max aperture appeals, as does the 35mm
focal length, but I don't want to buy it if I just end up having to put
Which is best?25 Jan 2007 09:18 GMT4

Image Stabilisation - why?24 Jan 2007 08:45 GMT12
I keep reading about IS in modern cameras and lenses and people seem to
go on about it as if it's essential. It's not in any camera I have and
it was never in any camera I've ever had.
I've managed to get perfectly good and sharp shots over the years,
ASDA SD card bargain20 Jan 2007 22:57 GMT8
Sandisk 512MB SD cards for 9.97 pounds.
I prefer 1MB cards but I couldn't resist it and I DON'T work for them BTW.

Jessops in bargain shocker!20 Jan 2007 16:55 GMT13
I need some negative files, so after finding 3 places in Leicester that
dont have them, I went to the big Jessops on Hinckley Rd. (used to be
their Head Office).
They did have a few in, turned them over to see the price, and nearly
Nikon D40 or Canon eos400D?18 Jan 2007 21:13 GMT15
I have narrowed my choice down to these two. I'm not a professional
photographer or anything,just a  hobbyist. I have an Nikon F65 but i
gather that its lens won't interchange with the D40? I have read a few
reviews for both and sometimes i feel that reviews are being

Microscopes and cameras16 Jan 2007 12:26 GMT3
I'm looking for a digital camera that I can use on a microscope. As a
minimum I need a camera that lets me look at the image on an LCD display
but also lets me trigger picture-taking electronically, to avoid moving
things while pushing buttons. That could be using an external ...
