I've been using a Konica Minolta Dimage Scan Dual IV with some success,
but its transport mechanism is now failing - it seems as if some teeth
from a gear wheel or similar are worne, and the negative holder has
needed a gentle push when scanning. This has become much worse recently.

I do quite a bit of walking in the Dales/North Yorks and want to take my D70
plus a couple of lenses and ND filters.  Not much gear really for a backpack
but I'm thinking of getting one of those purpose made jobs like the Tamrac
Trekker or Lowpro so its more accessible than my ...

I keep reading about IS in modern cameras and lenses and people seem to
go on about it as if it's essential. It's not in any camera I have and
it was never in any camera I've ever had.
