I'm looking to replace my (dying!) primefilm 1800u with some thing a bit

Has anyone any experience of the Minolta Scan Dual IV, using transparencies,
and B / W negs?

I currently use an HP 5550C printer which I've had for a few years now. Its
a good prt but not that good for photos.

I have an old Rolleicord III, which I love to bits and use quite regularly.
The only problem is that the mirror beneath the ground glass has lost a  
lot of it's silvering and therefore the image I'm getting in the finder is  
fairly faint - usable so long as I don't have overhead ...

Is there a easier to follow PS guide than Photoshop for
Photographers? Maybe its me but I read things and nothing sinks
in. I see its aimed at "professional image editors".

I've been thinking about getting a new film scanner, but then I wondered,
could a digital camera be used to digitise my slides and negs? You used to
be able to buy slide copiers for 35mm SLRs, I wonder if something similar
can be used with digital cameras. I don't have a digital ...

Do you think full frame digital SLRs will drop in price to, say,
£1000 in the foreseeable future? Or will film remain the only
option for very wide angle shots?

I'm after a very shiny cylinder, the type used by the friends of  Charles I
when they painted him in "coded" images. I have tried to remove the paint
from Red Bull and Coke cans with nitromorse, but it simply doesn't touch
