landscapes where - advice sought31 Aug 2005 20:34 GMT19
I am keen to shoot British landscapes. The trouble is that I do not
have a clue where to go, being a foreigner in the country not for long
yet. I know there are various workshops and photo tours, but I do not
think I need any tuition and rather go on my own. I have consulted the
Mother's going digital31 Aug 2005 17:15 GMT50
Newbie warning :-) Long post, sorry. I have done a bit of a search, but
I've not yet found a "what camera" thread which has quite the
combination I'm about to present...
My mother is having her 70th birthday soon, and my father thinks that
studio partner30 Aug 2005 15:10 GMT2
Just logged into the studio partner software of color world imaging only to
find it is available in "one of two flavours".
I thought this sort of childish language use in the software industry died a
well deserved death in the late  eighties.  Yuk.
KM 5D30 Aug 2005 13:15 GMT3
Well, after much dithering I bought a KM 5D
I have now used it for a long weekend and about 500 shots and I am
very happy. As a long term Minolta user the camera felt comfortable
immediately and without the bulk and weight of the otherwise admirable

Does anyone have any news?
Thanks
Fake ebay items - beware27 Aug 2005 18:42 GMT4
I was the victim of a flase ebay sale today. Some stole a users acount
(probably using one of the many email scams around) and posted a false Eos
1DS - 300mm F4. He also posted mountain bikes, plasmea screens and other
photo kit. Beware of these items, they are usually on 1 day ...
Where can I have a film developped27 Aug 2005 17:09 GMT3
I would like to know where could I got a film developped.
I don't need any prints of it, because I will scan what I want from the
developped film.
The problem is that I have only found services proposing to develop AND
New Canon 5D26 Aug 2005 13:08 GMT3
Just read about the new canon 5D - 13M-pixels and full size sensor. EF
mount does not take EF-S lenses. I think it's clear that eventually
we'll have a whole range of canon digitals from pro 1D and 5D down to
amateur (350D replacement) with full size sensors so that existing ...
Slightly OT, my laptop...24 Aug 2005 20:33 GMT4
I have a Viao which has a CD writer which works.  Trouble is, it refuses to
see what it has written.
If I put photos onto CD, for example, then put the disc back into the CD
drawer it shows a blank disc, but putting the CD into the photo lab shows
4:3 or 3:2 mode?24 Aug 2005 09:51 GMT5
This is further to the "mother's going digital" discussions, but isn't
really related to the choice of camera so I've started a new thread.
I note that many of the cameras we're considering offer both a 4:3 and a
3:2 version of their highest resolution setting. Leaving aside the ...

Nikon D70 BGLOD22 Aug 2005 20:16 GMT2
My D70 dies with the 'Blinking Green Light of Death' a few weeks ago. I
bought it (on-line) from Jessops in March 2004 and therefore have no
receipt.
Nikon want 61.69 UKP to repair it (which I've told them to go ahead with as

Indexing and searching huge volumes of images????21 Aug 2005 01:57 GMT20
I know that someone out there can help me with a problem.
I'm being asked to find some software which can index and allow searches on
huge volumes of images.  Most of these images will be TIFFs, and to be
honest, I'm expecting there to be about 1.5 million at the end of the
Newbie query on vanishing file size20 Aug 2005 19:57 GMT8
Took pictures with my new digital camera using a 5 Megapixel setting.
Imported photos to computer via USB cable and ACDSee 2.0.  File sizes are
now around 1 MB shouldn't they be 5 MB each.
Then emailed copies to friends, inserted them into email using Outlook 2003.
