Well, why we're on...13 Feb 2005 19:34 GMT10
...the subject of embarrasing questions - what is a RAW file?
I assume, because I only ever see the three letters in capitals, that they
stand for something.  I gather it's a bigger, better file than a compressed
jpg file, but what does it stand for?
Wide angle adaptors12 Feb 2005 19:04 GMT6
I don't want to pay Olympus money. Would I be able to use someone else's, as
long as the rear element is big enough? My other half's specs (for short
sight) worked quite well but I'd prefer a bit less chromatic aberration.
Lense question11 Feb 2005 18:09 GMT4
I'm thinking of buying a Nikon D70.
The lense I am thinking of is the Sigma AF 28-300.
Anyone offer any thoughts or feelings about this lense? (amateur use only)

Which high capacity CF card for Canon S70?11 Feb 2005 18:03 GMT6
I've been asked to buy a large capacity (1GB or 2GB) Compact Flash card
for a family member who has a Canon S70. While I know that speed is
likely to be important for such a large capacity card with a 7MP camera
I'm unsure whether it's worth paying extra for either a Lexar 80x,
what is a usb card reader11 Feb 2005 15:56 GMT12
Sorry to be so green but what is a usb card reader? What are they used for?

Which flash for a Nikon 995?11 Feb 2005 10:07 GMT1
Recently, I was lucky enough to pick up a very cheap AS-E900 flash
adapter for my Nikon 995. Now all I need is a flashgun!
Which are suitable? Nikon's own guns seem very expensive; what about
third party makes?
s5500?10 Feb 2005 19:18 GMT5
I'm thinking of buying a fuji s5500.  Any comments (good/bad!) about it
would be welcome please - is there a better unit in this price range?
Oh - any comments about ukdigital?  Their prices seem extremely
aggressive, too good to be true?

Newbie: Some advice?08 Feb 2005 09:30 GMT5
Can anyone point me in the direction of a good website that explains what I
need to know to operate my camera properly and efficiently?
I have recently bought a Konica Minolta Dimage Z3, and find the picture
quality on "Automatic" to be less than stellar - and would like to have a ...
Double-sided matte photo paper08 Feb 2005 09:10 GMT6
Hullo,
I'm trying to print out some photo inserts to put into things like
fridge magnets and keyrings. I've been experimenting with glossy photo
paper but I have found that the plastic covers are sticking to the
Advice please08 Feb 2005 08:57 GMT5
I currently have three OM bodies and several manual lenses, two Minolta AF
bodies and several AF lenses and am considering buying a Digital SLR. I
can't afford a 36x24 CCD based camera.
To make best use of my existing investment this leaves three options - all
Digital Images from 6p05 Feb 2005 23:31 GMT4
There is a company that charges as little as 6p an image, the quality is
excellent and makes images look so real. They only charge 90 postage no
matter how many you buy be that 1 or 5000.
If you join you get 10 free images but if I recommend you, you get 10
