Ansco sheet film13 Jul 2004 09:46 GMT1
Does anyone know anything about Ansco Type 282 Panchromatic film.
What would its approximate speed have been?
I have no idea about how old this film must be only that there are several
boxes and I thought to  open one to try it.
Best Camera/Printer combo advice please12 Jul 2004 11:23 GMT1
A friend of mine wants to buy a digi camera 200-300 quid and a printer
to print his photos. I'm thinking a second hand canon 3MP something
and an HP Photosmart printer. Any advice would be greatfully received.
Also without a computer how is he going to store his photos

Let's hear it for good old film!12 Jul 2004 09:19 GMT7
Just got back some sparkling 120mm Provia slides taken on my Mamiya 645. I
had abandoned film for the last 6 months while concentrating on my Canon G5
Digicam.
I can now get some tack sharp 20x16 Ilfochromes done from the slides,

"Don't wear your glasses..."11 Jul 2004 19:49 GMT2
My son is about to graduate at a well-known UK redbrick university.  He
has booked to have his piccy taken, but he says the bumf from the
photographers advises people "not to wear glasses, as reflections may
affect the quality of the portrait" [my version of what he says the bumf ...
Noise on 5Mp & 8Mp cameras11 Jul 2004 16:23 GMT3
I'd (now I see) wrongly assumed that the image quality of a 8MP camera would
be better than a 5MP
However I've read lots of comments on noise due to the small pixel sise. So
is the noise level better on a 5MP camera?
Olympus TTL flashguns on Praktica BX2011 Jul 2004 13:09 GMT3
I've recently got a Praktica BX20 SLR with some lenses as my low cost way
back into the hobby.   I understand that I can use flashguns dedicated for
Olympus OM TTL on the BX20 and obtain TTL operation as per the Praktica
units, is this correct please?
Benbo or Manfrotto?11 Jul 2004 12:24 GMT30
I want to buy a new tripod, it will be used mostly for macro photography,
but also for general purpose as well. It will have to support a Canon 10D
with 100mm Macro lens.
I'm thinking of either the Manfrotto 055 Pro because the centre column can
8MP Comments Please11 Jul 2004 08:26 GMT16
Looking to buy an 8MP camera. Would like to have easy access to manual
settings (without lots of fiddly menu-ing), but image quality is the main
concern
Initally the Minolta Dimage A2 seemed to fit the bill but I am worried about
Please illuminate me!11 Jul 2004 00:49 GMT14
When photographing displays of illuminations (of the Blackpool type, for
example), what should the white balance setting be to get the most accurate
results?
Thanks
Minolta Dimage A2 - comments?10 Jul 2004 11:56 GMT3
Features on this look to pretty much match what I am after, but I have read
a few negative comments regarding the softness of the picture which may be
related to other commnets I have read regarding iffy build quality on early
models.
Advice sought on food photography08 Jul 2004 00:04 GMT6
I am trying to get some modern looking pictures of food. I am trying to
achieve a very shallow depth of field, with the main object nice and sharp
but everything else thrown right out of focus.
I am struggling with my Canon 10D and two-lamp Bowens Esprit Studio light
scanning services07 Jul 2004 19:14 GMT1
Hello All, please recommend a UK, preferably London based, lab doing high
quality scans of 35mm slides. I was not happy with results from Jessop. Any
comments gratefully received.
