Why do lens aperture's have a variable maximum aperture? I have a Canon EOS 300 with 28-90 4/5.6 USM lens, and as much as I know how to use it well enough, I've never really got to know why I m able to set the aperture to f4.0, and sometimes the biggest is f5.6?
