Sigma 24-135mm11 Feb 2004 21:54 GMT1
Does anyone have any experiences, comments, etc. on Sigma's 24-135mm
f2.8-4.5?
I'm currently using a Canon 28-105, but I saw this in a shop window and
would love the extra zoom range... but is the quality going to suffer?
Amazing value budget digicam....11 Feb 2004 18:26 GMT2
as OldScrawn mentioned in passing a couple of weeks ago.
This looked pretty good value, at ?99 delivered from Amazon (?140+ elsewhere
or ?180 in my local Comet). Model to be discontinued I am guessing (was ?180
in DSG stores but has now disappeared off their sites). Well worth a DSR ...
Macro lens advice needed...11 Feb 2004 02:42 GMT3
I've decide on cost grounds to give up on getting a long telephoto and for
now concentrate on my macro photography of flowers etc...
So what macro lens with 1:1 magnification would be a sensible choice?
My choices so far seem to be:-
10D or 300D?10 Feb 2004 18:42 GMT40
I'm in the happy position of almost having persuaded the Mrs that I
need a new camera before we go on holiday next week.  As I have some
EOS kit I'm planning to trade up my Sony 4 megapixel to a 300D.
But the 10D is only a little jump from there, and I may as well be
Olympus OM-1010 Feb 2004 14:44 GMT3
Does anyone know what type (size?) of button batteries is used in the
Olympus OM-10 camera? I know two of them are needed for this camera. Thank
you in advance for any information.

Dry-mount press options09 Feb 2004 11:55 GMT4
What are the options for buying new dry-mount presses in the UK? Seal
seem to be a favoured press in the US but I can't find anyone who
sells them over here.
What other brands are there and who stocks them?
Recommendations for wide-angle zoom09 Feb 2004 00:49 GMT4
The local camera-monger shows a number of zoom lenses covering the
19-35mm range (all f3.5-4.5), from Vivitar, Tamron and Tokina.
All of these cost between 160 - 200 GBP, which is about half the cost
of the Nikon equivalent.

Single use cameras.  Are there any good(ish) ones?06 Feb 2004 13:40 GMT14
I'm taking part in a race in April and I'd like to take a disposable camera
with me.
Are any brands better (or "less bad") than others?
It's going to be used to photograph the Speyside Way en-route.  Should I
Slave Flash for Canon S5005 Feb 2004 19:48 GMT2
I have a Canon S50 on order (1st digital camera VERY excited!)
The only mini problem I can see with the cam is that it does not have
a hotshoe, so I am limited to the inbuilt flash, which is A) tiny B)
uses precious camera battery C) (apparently) does not power down very
Digital Photo Magazine and Photoshop 705 Feb 2004 16:48 GMT7
For my money, Digital Photo is the best digital photography magazine on the
market. I've learned more about Photoshop from it than from any other
source, and Barry Beckham's video presentations of Pictures to Exe software
have opened up a whole new field of photography for me.
Image Stabilisation - an easier way?05 Feb 2004 16:18 GMT6
I've just been pondering Image Stabilisation - specifically for digital
systems.
Canon (at least) do it by having the lens detect movement using 2 gyros and
moving a lens group off-axis to correct the movement.
