| Thoughts on going digital | 30 Jan 2004 21:14 GMT | 14 |
Well, I've been digital for a couple of months now (not me, you understand, but my camera) and I thought I'd share my thoughts... I had an aborted attempt to become a digital bod a year or so back, with a Fuji Finepix. We fell out due to Shutter lag (the time between pressing the

I've just received my 880 back from repair from Nikon. I took some test pictures and they're all blurred. Is this spherical aberration? http://www.shuv.nildram.co.uk/nikon (warning 1MB files).

Firstly I am a total novice on any type of photography. I would like advice on which digital camera to buy. I am limited to those that have manufacturers underwater housings available. I cannot afford a custom made housing.

| Wow - this Canon EF300mm f2.8 IS is a beast!! | 28 Jan 2004 10:17 GMT | 17 |
I arranged to hire this 300mm lens from Calumet and went to their Birmingham office to collect it yesterday. Unfortunately head-office had sent the wrong lens (300mm f4.0 as opposed to f2.8).

I've just got rid of my Nikon Coolpix 2500 with a view to upgrading. Things that annoyed me most about the Nikon were: (1) redeye problems (2) annoying red-eye reduction implementation (3 flashes which always

| Canon EOS 30 | 27 Jan 2004 13:33 GMT | 4 |
I've recently purchased the above camera and, while I'm very pleased with it, I can already see that the lens supplied with it (EF28mm-90mm f.4/5.6 USM) is disappointing - it seems very soft and not a patch on the Rokkor lenses I used to use with my defunct Minolta XD7.

| Qucik query on telephoto lenses and multipliers... | 26 Jan 2004 21:57 GMT | 6 |
Just a sanity check for my tired brain... I'm looking at getting 300mm f4 EF prime lens (one of the IS / L models).... anyway part of my reason for this is:- 1. It's probably the biggest decent prime lens I can afford...

| Small Digital Camera | 26 Jan 2004 19:29 GMT | 1 |
Currently have a Konica KD-500Z. 5 million pixel, small-ish and optical zoom. Decided to buy a Sony DSC-U30 2 million pixel for nights out etc.. I'm not overly impressed with the Sony. While close up pics are okay, some pics turn out grainy. I don't really want to get rid of the ...

Can I check I have this clear in my head? Long lenses get "closer" they also make distant objects appear big relative to foreground objects Wide angles do the opposite.

| Halogen lighting | 24 Jan 2004 23:24 GMT | 8 |
What's the advantage in using a ?150 photographic halogen lighting unit over a ?15 halogen garden light from B & Q? I've had a look on Google and see comments on heat produced; colour of light; and length of exposure required, compared to flash. But I haven't

| Very Basic Question - Zoom | 24 Jan 2004 11:23 GMT | 19 |
I have recently (after much saving) decided to take a massive leap in photography by purchasing a Canon EOS 300D. I have always used point and shoot, to take pics but have finally decided to become a bit more creative. I am finding the digital SLR excellent for experimentating with ...
