which neg scanner24 Dec 2003 23:54 GMT4
I would like to buy a neg scanner for my son. I know absolutely nothing
about scanners but these are the sort of things I have to consider.
1. I would like to buy it from Jessops as they print all our familly
snapshots so I feel I can talk to them.

Kodak Ultra ASA-800!?21 Dec 2003 00:12 GMT1
Quick question.  I see that Kodak "Ultra Max" is ASA 800.  Are these new
"super fast" films using newer technology or are they going to be very
grainy?
I ask because my understanding of films (which is limited) is that "faster

My New Web Site Finally Finished20 Dec 2003 10:26 GMT1
I've been into photography for about 3 years now and rapidly this has
expanded from a hobby to an obsession!!
I started off using a Fuji Finepix 4900 Zoom and then about 9 months
ago I bought a Canon EOS-10D which I have to say, I LOVE!

Magicstor 2.2GB Microdrives19 Dec 2003 22:00 GMT3
Has anyone any experience of these things? I am thinking of getting one off
e-bay (see item 2970160953 on ebay.co.uk) shipped from Hong Kong, to go with
my spiffing new Canon S50 :-)  Although the sellers talk of kidding HMC&E I
will assume I will be charged duty but how much would ...
Sigma 105mm and Tamron 90mm Macros18 Dec 2003 21:50 GMT5
Couple of questions - both these lenses get good reviews, so i wondered if
there's anything much between them.  I'm after a lens for macro pics
(flowers and insects etc) for my 300D.  Any preferences?  Jessops have both
used - but have there been several models of each?  If so, do ...
London photographer's groups/clubs18 Dec 2003 12:42 GMT1
Does anyone know of any photography groups/clubs in central/west London?
I've enjoyed LIPS and PACC, but I know there must be more.
Any leads appreciated.
Thanks,
Polariser question18 Dec 2003 01:06 GMT1
I know linear polarising filters can cause problems with the metering but
does anyone know why almost all the pictures I take with a circular
polariser come out serious overexposed. I have tried two different types of
the filter.

usb2 printer question16 Dec 2003 10:00 GMT2
I am thinking of getting an epson printer soon, it comes with a usb2
connection on it. My pc has usb 1.1 ports on it.
1. I can still use the two together right? It will just run at 1.1 speeds?
2. Do I have to get a usb2 cable for it or will a 1.1 be ok for it?
Compact digicam16 Dec 2003 01:41 GMT2
I'm pretty sure I've lost my Nikon Coolpix 3100 off a fairground ride (don't
ask...), so once the old insurance claim's sorted I'm going to be in the
market for a replacement.  I have a 300D for 'proper' pics, but I want
something small for skiing, climbing and assorted activities ...
What lights?14 Dec 2003 21:06 GMT3
If I wanted to improve the things I shoot at home, I guess the easiest thing
to improve on is lighting.  What do you all use?  Can I use domestic spot
lights / lamps with "daylight" bulbs in or am I left with no alternative but
to buy 'proper' studio lights?
Best Picture Format14 Dec 2003 21:03 GMT7
When downloading from my digital camera to the PC I have a number of format
options to use. In general (other than RAW) what is the least compressed or
best quality format?
Thanks,
