I have an AE-1 that has served me well for the last 20+ years. Recently it has started to show (understandable) signs of age - the battery door has cracked and broken for one. Anyone know of a good quality / good value Canon repairer in the Midlands?

Is there somewhere I can go and read about the relative pro's and con's of older SLR's? I don't mean really old but perhaps up to 20 years old or so? All the sites I seem to find are reviews for current models. Any guidance much appreciated,

Just got myself a rollei XF 35 Rangefinder. Wondering if there's an online manual somewhere. Also, is since I'm not using mercury 1.35V batteries to power the light meter, would the 1.5V alkalines distort the light readings?

Anyoe else noticed that Cokin are no longer putting white lettering of their filter boxes? The writing used to go along the top edge in white, with the code, what the filter is and even the exposure increase. I bought one today and it had nothing on it, except a fancy raised Cokin ...

It will be my first 35mm SLR (and it's not my money) so I need to choose wisely. I am thinking of the Nikon N80 though thoughts of the Minolta Dynax 5 and especially the Canon Elan 7 are not entirely banished from my indecisive mind.
