| waist/shoulder mounts worth bother? | 25 Jan 2005 18:22 GMT | 2 |
I'm looking for comments from people who've used shoulder or waist mounts for long lenses. Are they worth the inconvenience? I'm particularly interested in whether they are so cumbersome that other items, such as binoculars or a backpack, can't be easily carried at

| Any first hand info on bird photography near the Salton Sea? | 21 Jan 2005 18:29 GMT | 7 |
Will be passing by this area next week and if there are good photo opps for birds I can visit for a day or so. I have the ABA Guide to SoCal birding and it has plenty of good things to say about the SS area but from the perspective of a birder, not necessarily a photographer. We ...

| Help re tele-extender and D70 | 03 Jan 2005 02:09 GMT | 2 |
I seem to be getting conflicting data from various sources. Can a Nikon 1.4 tele-extender be used with my current lenses and my Nikon D70? Are there any features I would lose? The lens I would most like to use with the tele-extender is the Nikon 75 - 300mm f4.5/5.6. This is an old ...

| Theft of camera gear from car | 01 Jan 2005 00:33 GMT | 16 |
This is a heads up. Yesterday I learned of a professional photographer who had spent time in Alaska, then went to Yellowstone (this year), where she had all her gear stolen from a locked car. The gear was not obvious,
