Autumn in southern New Zealand14 Mar 2004 22:54 GMT1
I feel like I've learnt something from looking at Chuck Curtos
photographs and reading the comments people made about them.
Thought I'd ask if someone would do the same for me...

Can anyone recommend a good guide for spot metering? Zone system?14 Mar 2004 19:39 GMT5
I am an advanced amateur, and I want to really understand spot metering
practically. I've read the "Handheld Metering Guide" and I don't doubt
that the authors can meter well, but they have shown they can't instruct
well. Information is neither too advanced or too simple, not ...
Tokina 80-400 II13 Mar 2004 22:56 GMT4
Could you please give your opinions on the Tokina 80-400 II  lens for a
serious armature. I can't afford the Canon 100-400 or the Sigma 80-400 image
stabilized lenses. The other lenses I am looking at is the Sigma 70-300 APO
macro, Tamron 70-300 LD macro, Tokina 24-200, Tamron and ...
200 mm IS: a hole in Canon lens line?13 Mar 2004 19:19 GMT4
I've had the following lens lineup for my Canon 35mm and DSLR
cameras (all canon lenses):
24mm, 28-135 IS, 100-400 L IS, 500 f/4 L IS, + 1.4 and 2x TCs.
I always found the 100-400 soft.  I could make fine 8x10 enlargements,

Photos under flood lights11 Mar 2004 04:28 GMT1
I like to photograph deer, turkey, and other small animals that come
into my back yard. I have a salt/mineral lick set out on an old stump
along with corn. This set-up is about 25 yards from my camera set on a
tripod in an enclosed porch shooting through an open window. Works

I just posted a few pictures from the Florida Corkscrew Swamp on my web site

place to visit.
photographing moose in the "Anchorage Hillside" area?09 Mar 2004 20:04 GMT4
A friend from Europe was told there are excellent opportunities for
photographing moose in late August - early Sept in the 'Anchorage Hillside'
area.  This looks like a neighborhood in Anchorage not too far from the airport
to me (from the Google info) so I'm a bit skeptical and he ...

Underwater on a budget08 Mar 2004 02:41 GMT7
Any good suggestions for an underwater camera? I run around with a bunch of
fossil-hunters and do a lot of shooting on our trips.  As the nice weather
kicks in, we will be doing more trips that involve going to sites that are
only reachable by boat.  It would also be nice if I could ...
