Good places in San Diego for bird photography?30 Dec 2003 00:27 GMT10
Anyone have first hand knowledge of hot spots for birds near SD in January?  I
want places were the *photography* ops are good, not just the birding since a
lot of birders are ecstatic if they can spot a rare species at 200 yards but we
photogs need close access with good light :)

Bosque del Apache - in April27 Dec 2003 00:15 GMT1
I know that April is not the prime time to go to Bosque, but since I will be
in the vicinity, I would like to know if it is worth a stop for a
sunset/sunrise.
I would be glad to photograph any birds, but roadrunners in particular.

Telephoto Binocular Comparison26 Dec 2003 15:27 GMT24
I am in the process of buying a new pair of binoculars and wondered if there
was any way to compare the focal length of a telephoto lens to the power
rating of  binoculars. It would be nice to know how the scene I am looking
at thru the binoculars relates to my lens length.

Snowmobile trails near Yellowstone NP--from West Yellowstone, MT25 Dec 2003 12:03 GMT15
A friend and I were all set for a one-week self-guided trip via
snowmobile through Yellowstone NP.  Thanks to a lunatic judge and a
last-second ruling that's all thrown into chaos...but I digress.
We are going to make the trip anyway and try to make the best of it.
waterfowl locations?25 Dec 2003 11:29 GMT4
Does anyone know of any great spots in the mid Atlantic region to
photograph waterfowl?

Lightweight tripod & ball head25 Dec 2003 00:56 GMT12
I've pretty much decided on Gitzo G-1028 legs for backpacking.
The next step up would be the G-1228, which is almost twice
the weight and offers no advantage for me - the camera I'll be
using on those trips weighs about a pound.  My question is on
Advise sought about remote operation of camera23 Dec 2003 16:49 GMT1
In order to photograph a bird, I want to set up a camera, then operate it
(press the shutter is all I need) from about 15 metres away. The camera
must be able to wait in a 'ready to shoot' mode for possibly many hours.
What choices are out there?
