Which fast (MF) Nikon tele lens?30 Sep 2003 06:46 GMT2
now that I more often do have the problem that my Nikkor 400/5.6 isn't
fast enough, especially when being combined with a teleconverter, I
want to switch a faster lens of this kind. Only problem I haven't
solved yet: Better buying the 400/3.5 of the 500/4.0.

Digital camera and pics of bats?22 Sep 2003 21:45 GMT2
Any chance of using a Nikon 5700 to get some pics of the bats around
here? I can only get to see them in flight, and I suspect it's a really
tricky subject. Any tips? If the digi cam is a none starter how about
with a fairly basic film SLR (Nikon 501)? Thanks.
SW Colorado fall colors update22 Sep 2003 02:46 GMT2
Drove across Colorado yesterday and today, skirting the San Juans and traveling
east on 50.  In summary, the San Juans are still green, but there were nice
aspen colors on either side of Monarch Pass.  Details below.

flower portraits, birds, and more added to the mix. Lots of new panoramas too.
Everything's from 4x5 and medium format ...

Canon A-1:  Battery Drain12 Sep 2003 07:36 GMT1
My old Canon A-1 (a workhorse if there ever was one), has developed the
problem of rapidly draining the battery.  It takes only a few days for this
to happen.  Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has addressed a similar
problem.

Just wondering if anyone that's familiar with Colorado has an opinion
about the prospects of a good fall color season, based on the weather
this year.
Thanks, JY
