Camera Repair Shop Recommendations27 Feb 2006 13:27 GMT4
Many years ago, I inadvertently knocked my then-new Rolleiflex 3.5F
with Planar lens onto the floor. Since then, I've had film
advance/shutter release problems. At least three times since, I've
tried to get the Rollei repaired, but it still has the same problems. I
Self-timer help please23 Feb 2006 03:26 GMT5
I've just bought a small item - a 'no name' self-timer to use with my older
gear (and Bronica ETR-Si).  See: http://tinyurl.com/on25a.  I'm struggling
to use it as I expected.
I thought it would just screw into place, you'd wind the timer mechanism and
WOW - MF + slide scanner, life is good22 Feb 2006 17:37 GMT3
...and please forgive my youthful enthusiasm - I wish my age was a better
match.  As I've posted previously, coming from years of shooting 35mm and 3
years of digital, I have recently acquired a medium format system (Bronica)
and a Metz "potato masher" 45CL-4 with SCR unit for ...
Nikon LS-9000 and Color Negatives22 Feb 2006 00:52 GMT46
I just got a new LS9000, and am having a problem with color negs that
contain bright colors.  For example, I have a shot of a model wearing a
hot pink top shot under direct light (ring flash).  No matter what scan
settings I use, I am not getting enough punch out of either the top ...
"crystal clear" lenses and fungus21 Feb 2006 04:36 GMT17
I don't know if it happens to people here who buy second hand lenses
but I recently had two cameras with the beginnings of fungus on the
lenses that were described as "crystal clear, unmarked optics free from
scratches or fungus etc." Maybe it is just me but I know how fungus
Retina IIc repair manual online?21 Feb 2006 01:06 GMT1
I'm wondering if a repair manual for this is online.

Long term damage to light meters?20 Feb 2006 12:58 GMT9
Some time ago, somewhere, somebody posted a claim that incident light
meters should never be left out of their case for extended periods as
ambient light would degrade their sensitivity over time.
Any basis for this?
Q about the "thingie" in the mount of a P6 Sonnar 180mm17 Feb 2006 02:09 GMT3

It has got me puzzled. In the mount you can see the rod that gets
pushed in so that the lens is wide open until you press the shutter.
But there is another thing as well with a ...
Bronica lenses - a few questions if I may15 Feb 2006 20:08 GMT51
coming from an extensive background in 35mm, I'm about to launch my
unsuspecting self into M/F, most likely with a Bronica ETR system.  My main
uses will be:
- candid portraits in the 3rd world
MF Scanners - Microtek 120tf?15 Feb 2006 17:10 GMT12
I know this is the old Polaroid, but I've never had the opportunity to
use one or see the output.  In the past I have had access to a Nikon
8000 with good results, but now it's time to buy my own.
Has anyone done a rigorous comparison?  Let's pretend a used 8000, new
First experience with the (new) Bronica... a quiz15 Feb 2006 12:16 GMT4
my guess is that I'm addressing a bunch of old MF pros and so the intention
of this post is in no way to enlighten, but probably to offer some mild
amusement... at my own expense.  :-)
As some of you may have read, I've just entered MF world with a near new
cheap film scanner resolution14 Feb 2006 00:09 GMT18
I went into this shop today to pick out a cheap film scanner and I
noticed that some of them advertised a resolution of 3200 6400 dpi. Is
this for real or is the truth half that rate?
Epson 4490?13 Feb 2006 15:42 GMT4
Anyone used the Epson 4490? Since I no longer have any access to a
darkroom to contact or do any rough prints from my b&w negs, I have
been looking for a cheap scanner for rough proofing and getting images
on the web. Sending negs off for hand printing on fibre is *very*
Weird rainbow bands when scanning my MF13 Feb 2006 07:30 GMT15
I recently bought an Epson 4990 flatbed scanner to digitize my MF
(645) negatives.  What a great scanner, but I'm having occasional
problems with rainbow bands when scanning some of my negatives at high
resolution (at or above 4800 dpi).  These bands often show up in areas
