| Canon EOS 10D sync polarity | 31 Mar 2004 02:56 GMT | 3 |
I have trouble getting my Canon EOS 10D to properly fire my White Lightning X1600 via the PC sync cable. White Lightning tech support believes it may be because the sync polarity of the cord is center positive while the EOS 10D PC connection might be negative. Does anyone know the ...

| Rollei TLR vs. tripods | 30 Mar 2004 19:40 GMT | 7 |
Speaking of Rollei TLR straps, I seem to recall someone saying that the parts that the Rollei tripod mount is connected to in the early '50s models is fragile and that one shouldn't just screw it onto a generic tripod head. What's the received wisdom on the right way to use my ...

| Fewer elements - lesser Bokeh? | 30 Mar 2004 16:21 GMT | 57 |
I've been experimenting with antique cameras for some time and I've come to a somewhat controversial conclusion, which is based on experience alone. I believe that the fewer elements you have the less "blitzed out" your bokeh is, that is to say the less your main subject stands out

| How do I use the light meter on an Autocord CDS III? | 29 Mar 2004 18:23 GMT | 7 |
What do the numbers mean? I get values like "8,15" and "7,14" with the light meter set to 100ASA, but I have no idea what this means. Is there some sort of secret decoder ring I'm supposed to use in order to find out how this translates to shutter speed and aperture? ;)

| Rollei TLR strap lug connector | 29 Mar 2004 06:51 GMT | 6 |
I have a Rollei 2.8 Planar TLR and I'm looking for a way to attach a conventional strap to it! The Rollei has this special spring-loaded connector that slides into the lug and snaps in place, the problem is that I can't get a conventional strap-ring into the lug housing, only a ...

| Maximum filter size for Mamiya 6 | 29 Mar 2004 01:53 GMT | 1 |
Anybody know off-hand what the maximum usable filter diameter is on the Mamiya 6, assuming an appropriate step-down ring, of course? 67mm will obviously be fine as that's what the thread on the 150mm lens is, but how about 77mm? Will that get in the way of the meter, rangfinder,

| Quick focus handles | 28 Mar 2004 14:31 GMT | 5 |
I have a 'blad 500CM with two older CT*-type lenses (1970s vintage). The focusing rings are awkward enough to make me want to sell up- will the quick-focusing handles change my mind? I've only seen them mail-order and would like to know if they improve matters much.

| Distance between leading edges | 28 Mar 2004 05:18 GMT | 10 |
The other night I had this crazy idea of making my own back for the 120. The idea is to make it versatile so that I can do some creative experimentation with it without breaking my budget or other cameras. One of the first obstacles is the film transfer mechanism. Ideally I would ...

| Nikon Coolscan 8000ED reliability | 28 Mar 2004 03:48 GMT | 8 |
I am considering the Nikon Coolscan 8000 or 9000 ED scanner for medium format slide strips. I see many 8000's on ebay as refurbished which raises an interesting question. How reliable are the 8000's.

| a question of B/W film | 27 Mar 2004 16:17 GMT | 11 |
There was once a film made by Kodak, black and white which was not sensitive to red light, and could be as out in the open and undeveloped under red light, Pan - something I think ... anyone remember this? Does anyone

| Hasselblad 553ELX | 27 Mar 2004 09:24 GMT | 2 |
Is the Hasselblad 553ELX -body only- worth UK pounds 315 - about 567 us dollars? 2nd hand, of course, presumably in good condition (no picture available). Have there been any particular problems with this camera? Thanks in advance.

| Lightweight tripod head for MF | 26 Mar 2004 17:50 GMT | 38 |
I've settled on a digital SLR and Fuji MF rangefinder as my holiday travel kit. In the past I have taken a fairly heavy Gitzo tripod, but decided to cut the weight by switching to a carbon fibre type. I bought the Manfrotto 440, which is very nice, but now I find need a lighter head ...
