Spotmeters (beginner questions)23 Jan 2004 17:22 GMT8
First of all, I know very little about "spot-meters"!  Having said that, the
ones that I've seen that intrigue me, are the ones with a viewfinder; tell
me, do the good ones allow you to adjust the size of the spot you're
measuring, and how does the film-format and focal length of ...
cine film keeping alive still film23 Jan 2004 14:15 GMT390
Back to this topic again..
It seems to me that still film will be around as long as cine film and
probably not a day beyond. If the bulk of all film is for the cine market
then still film is nothing but a spin-off. Maybe not a profitable spin-off
Tripod advice23 Jan 2004 05:52 GMT3
I have a Mamiya RZ67 that I plan on using for wildlife and a bit of macro
photography, I have been looking at both Bogen and Getz tripods, can someone
recomend a head leg combo. that will both be steady enough and somewhat
portable, as I will be backpacking with it,,,,,The ...
Honda generator for location shoot22 Jan 2004 19:43 GMT9
I´m considering a Honda generator as power source for my Hensel Contra
compact units. My question is: how important is a sine wave for flash
lights? Should I get one with inverter technology or would the
ordinary generators be enough?
Website with detailed photo's,tips on repair of old foldup cameras22 Jan 2004 19:20 GMT2
http://www.davidrichert.com/camera_rebuilds.htm
I came across this site in my websearching.
I wish I'd seen this before trying to repair an old Voightlander 6 by
6, maybe then I'd have not screwed it up resulting in a major temper
My new scanner is here, my new scanner is here, my new scanner is here!!!22 Jan 2004 03:04 GMT1
I just received my LS-8000 scanner and I had no idea how big and heavy it
is, I thought it would be about the same size as my IV ED just a little
wider, see what I get for thinking!  Now I have to rethink a place to put
it!  :-)

Folks what's the big deal about CLA?
I've NEVER had a camera serviced unless it gave trouble. Never.
I worked in another hospital where an Olympus OM1 was in constant use for
macro photography. Since 1979. It still is and works and has never been
first foray into MF...20 Jan 2004 23:06 GMT46
Howdy All!
I've been contemplating getting more serious about a bigger format than 35mm
(not that I'm giving up on 35mm, mind you). I've borrowed a Kiev 60 (w/80
2.8 lens) and have shot a couple of rolls (Agfa Optima 100) but I'm not
spotmeter accessory20 Jan 2004 09:38 GMT5
This is really a long shot post. My Pentax spotmeter is fast becoming an
invaluable tool to me, especially when I'm out walking and hunting down
images. When I engage in this "photo safari" business, I usually stuff some
things in my pockets; a lens cleaning brush, some lens tissue, ...
Medium format perspective19 Jan 2004 23:11 GMT4
Lately I have been wondering about medium format perspective and wondered
if anyone could enlighten me.
My wide angle 80 mm Mamiya 7 lens is approximately equivalent to a 39 mm
lens in the 35 mm format, in terms of view area covered, but is it similar
Chemistry capacity in Paterson multireel-3 tanks19 Jan 2004 22:42 GMT2
I use 1-liter chemistry kits for color. Is this enough to immerse two
120/220 reels in Paterson's MultiReel-3 tank? I tried measuring coverage in
my small tank earlier, and came up 50 ml short. The reels were empty; would
three 120 rolls make up that small, but important, ...

The Financial Times is reporting digital is dead. Funny I thought we knew
this was going to happen.

Mamiya 645 - compatible backs19 Jan 2004 05:00 GMT1
I'm just entering medium format and got myself a 645 Super. Now I know
that lens is mix and matchable between the various 645s, but what
about the backs? Since it's harder to find backs for a 645 Super, well
to be sent to Australia anyways, I'm wondering I can put in a pro back
