9x12 ?30 Apr 2006 01:02 GMT8
Well, having recently asked about 13x18, and its relationship to 5x7 and to
half-plate, I started thinking about other 'minor' formats.
So, is anyone still making 9x12cm film?  Or is it in the same situation as
the 'postcard' 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 format that some Graflexes (and others) ...
ekfe 25 or 100?27 Apr 2006 15:48 GMT23
i wanted to try this film in 4x5" format.
efke pl100 is available in 6x9cm, too, and since i do have some of
those film holders, it would be interesting to use them (i didn't pay
for those holders).
If I were shootin LF with just one lens26 Apr 2006 14:44 GMT19
This is only meant to spark interesting conversation, as did "Legendary
lenses) in r.p.e.d/35mm.  I like to read and understand people's
outlooks on both equipment and shooting.
Fortunately, 4x5 lenses of good quality are relatively inexpensive.
Why not both?26 Apr 2006 14:24 GMT30
It would seem that with 4x5 and larger that there's nothing digital
(within a practical price range) to compare with a nice contact print.
This shot (http://www.brendemuehl.net/images/modelshot.html) was
"split" print.
LF 4x5 with Flash without flashmeter...26 Apr 2006 01:34 GMT7
Let's get this out of the way 1st, I know I can shoot at any shutter speed
with my leaf shutter on the Schneider lens.
I got a PC sync cord for use with my old Canon 277T (circa 1983?) flash, and
it will also work with my Nikon SB-600 flash, I'll be using my Schneider
5x7" - or 13x18cm  - any thoughts?21 Apr 2006 13:14 GMT5
I've had a 5x7 camera for over 20 years, but it's an ancient
Kodak, not easy to use and weighs a ton, so has come out only
very rarely in the last several years, with my Arca-Swiss 4x5s
being the largest format I use most of the time.
Graphic View - A historical note19 Apr 2006 14:10 GMT7
The other day a coworker of mine brought an interesting camera to work.
My first impression was that it was a Graphic View, but the design was
rather rough, not like other GVs I've seen.  Here's the story he told me
in a nutshell.
What exactly do these lens markings mean?19 Apr 2006 13:42 GMT11
Schneider - Kreuznach Symmar 1:5.6/210  1:12/370
The lens is mounted on a Linhof shutter that appears to have two sets of
aperature markings, that look something like this:
 12    16    22    32
Charles Sheeler's equipment18 Apr 2006 19:18 GMT8
Not long ago I acquired one of the most beautiful books I've ever had, a
book on Charles Sheeler. (_The Photography of Charles Sheeler: American
Modernist_, by Theodore E. Stebbins, Jr., Gilles Mora and Karen E.
Haas.) Gorgeous, just gorgeous photos, of subjects ranging from
Schneider Xenar 105mm f3.5,  Kodak Ektar 101mm f4.516 Apr 2006 18:47 GMT10
I seem to have two of these Xenars and an Ektar - came 'with' other things -
and was thinking I'd just sell them.  I have a Rodenstock Sironar-N 100mm
f5.6 that has more modern coating (the Xenars are single coated) and wider
coverage, and is in a more accurate shutter (the others ...
I met Steve Hinkley15 Apr 2006 19:29 GMT7
Steve Hinkley the photographer that is... he was displaying his prints at the local
farmer's market, and WHAT astounding work, the prints were color and really large.
He uses an Ebony SV45Te folding bed camera.  The images on the website are
rather small and insignificant compared ...
Histogram to Zone?11 Apr 2006 14:28 GMT2
To get a conversation started ...
Has anyone devised an approach to use one's DSLR's Histogram to
determine a basis for zone calculations?  Is it at all useful?

Need a Spanner Wrench09 Apr 2006 06:00 GMT15
To remove lens/shutter from lensboard. Where should I buy one? The
local Ace Hardware, or where?
Value of various view cameras by brand06 Apr 2006 19:14 GMT39
Based on a very small sample of what I've seen on eBay and a few ads in
Shutterbug, the selling price (and presumably the value as well) of, say,
4x5 view cameras ranges over a 5:1 range with IIRC Omega on the low end and
other, more prestigious, names on the higher end of the ...
