[I mistakenly posted something similar on the medium format group, which is
ok, but not totally on topic as I intend to use the scanner for large format
film scans.]  My wife surprised me with one [epson 4990] this Christmas,
which is saying something, because I did not ask for ...
Glaflok Back Help Needed30 Dec 2005 04:01 GMT5
Friends,
I have a Graflok type back that is missing much of the velvet like material,
used to seal the light on the edges of the film holder. It appears to be
self adhesive.
Hong Kong camera stores - recent news24 Dec 2005 19:01 GMT5
For any of you who get to Hong Kong, Tin Cheung Camera Company has
moved shop.  They're now at 6B Carnarvon Road, Kowloon.  This is about
five minutes' walk from their old spot in the arcade at 100 Nathan Road.
The new location fronts right on the street and is decidedly cleaner, ...
Slightly OT:  What happened to rec.photo.darkroom?23 Dec 2005 19:53 GMT2
I recently found the time to catch-up on Usenet and found the
rec.photo.darkroom NG most recent posts to be in July, 2005.  Is it my
news service, or is the group essentially defunct?
Thanks for any response.
Question about shims and spacers22 Dec 2005 23:48 GMT4
I have a lens I know is not in its original shutter.  Photographic
results appear fine, but I'm curious how I could determine if this
lens should have any shims.  Is there some relatively simple
test I can do on my own, like photographing the stock quotes
What film for landscape and why?22 Dec 2005 13:52 GMT113
I have been researching the available film types on 4x5 for quickload
and readyload holders. I am a beginner so I don't know a lot about film
types, but I understand that most landscape photographers prefer Fuji
Velvia 50 or 100.
Another one for you... ever heard of an "Atar" (sic) lens?21 Dec 2005 11:31 GMT5
I've got another one for you...
Have any of you heard of an "Atar" lens?  The "Atar" is written in
cursive script on a brass telescoping lens (it doesn't have an iris)?
There is no "R" (as in "Artar") that I can see.
Info on old Otto Lund Shutter20 Dec 2005 03:56 GMT17
I posted this in the large format forum, but I'd figure I'd try good
old Usenet, too...
I've been fortunate enough to come into several older & unusual lenses.
One is a set of Zeiss Protarlinses D.R.P 56109 (a 480 mm on the front #
LF joke19 Dec 2005 22:50 GMT5
Just read the reworking of the old press-photog saying:

mat cutter recommendation?19 Dec 2005 05:28 GMT5
I'm looking for a mat cutter recommendation.
I have a small mat cutter that requires use of
a ruler and pencil markings, and you have to hold the
ruler while you make the cut.  I would like a real
What is this Graflok adapter? 15 Dec 2005 02:29 GMT5
This is a Graflok adapter that lets you make 2 exposures side-by-side on 4x5
film. I've never seen one before. Does it have an official name?

I was doing my usual crossword puzzle in my local classified newspaper
section Wednesday and took my usual glance at the photo classifieds which
rarely has anything good and was astonished at a listing for an "1890 11x14
View Camera". As I tripped all over myself trying to find ...
Magic Bullet11 Dec 2005 13:55 GMT18
This is an excellent article and food for thought for the newbie and
seasoned LF photographer.

Refocusable digial images09 Dec 2005 22:39 GMT9
Remember the days when 35mm photographers said they'd never go digital
because the resolution digital images wasn't high enough?
Remember the days when point and shoot moms said they weren't going digital
because shutter delay made it hard to capture kids smiles?
Lens board dimensions for various Speed Graphics09 Dec 2005 11:02 GMT9
Does anyone have any specific information on the correct dimensions for the
lens boards for the various models and sizes of Speed/Crown Graphic cameras
or know of a website where such information could be found?
If it matters, I'm specifically interested in the Pacemaker 2-1/4 x ...
