| What computer specs for scanning and printing large prints with 4x5 slides | 31 Oct 2005 19:52 GMT | 19 |
I recently purchased an epson 4900 scanner for some of my 4x5 and 6x6 slides. My old dell computer (about 5 years old) freezes up with file sizes over 600k. If I would like to make large prints (30 or 40 or bigger) from scanned slides what would I need or look for in a new ...

| 5x7 Fuji film? | 30 Oct 2005 14:13 GMT | 10 |
Does anyone know of anyplace in the US or Canada where I can order 5x7 Fuji film? Preferably Provia 100F, but I'll take Velvia if they don't carry Provia... I've had an order on file for almost a month with Badger Graphics, but they

| 90mm f/6.8 Angulon in Copal 0 - question | 29 Oct 2005 23:48 GMT | 2 |
I recently got hold of a late production (11,3xx,xxx) 90mm f/6.8 Angulon in a Copal 0. The shutter needs a CLA (speeds slower than 1/4 are erratic, if they run at all). The front cell unscrews normally but the rear cell appears to require a lens spanner for removal.

Can anybody recommend a simple, do-it-yourself pinhole test for bellows?

| 4x5 slide processing and scanning | 29 Oct 2005 16:31 GMT | 6 |
A few days ago I asked about Readyload/Quickload versus traditional holders, and a lot of you pointed out the lack of choice in films for the Readyload/Quickload option. Sure enough, I verified and I noticed that the only possibilities for

| Computer needs for LF work | 29 Oct 2005 05:16 GMT | 20 |
I'd like to hear what a "perfect" computer system would consist of using both a Mac as well as the PC platform. If you could or if you have built or bought the ultimate system for working with large format film and making prints, please share the mechanical

| Old Sinar P or Horseman LX | 28 Oct 2005 23:44 GMT | 1 |
Both are used, priced about $1000. Which one to get? The horseman lx is newer, more movements, including adjustable film/lens plane, everything except swing and tilt are geared. In Sinar P everything including swing and tilt are geared, but it's

| Velvia 50 vs Velvia 100 (non-F) comparison | 28 Oct 2005 19:27 GMT | 12 |
Since I've had trouble finding such comparisons of my own, I thought I'd post these. I shot them both within a minute of each other on Saturday morning (around 9am) at Sandy Stream Pond, Baxter State Park, ME.

| Linhof Cine Rollex Back ? | 27 Oct 2005 19:37 GMT | 3 |
A colleague and I are looking into 70mm long roll backs. Is there more than one size Linhof Cine Rollex back? Do they all fit the 4x5? It takes sprocketed 70mm, correct? (What a time to be looking at long rolls - Kodak has cut stock to ribbons,

| No markings, what is the tilt (field cameras) | 26 Oct 2005 17:50 GMT | 10 |
Field camera with no markings, how do you assess the degree of tilt, any practical suggestions? (jokers, please refrain from "intelligent" comments like "by eye" etc.). Are there any devices which would establish the vertical first, and then give the tilt in degrees, as precise as ...

| Abandoned buildings | 26 Oct 2005 15:00 GMT | 9 |
I've started shooting abandoned/unused buildings, and have begun to approach some owners to try to get permission to photograph interiors as well. I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with this and could provide me with some advice about what sort of documentation, etc. owners ...

| 4x5 sheet film--how do you prefer to develop it? | 25 Oct 2005 20:39 GMT | 32 |
After 6 months of using a rollfilm back I've shot my first sheets of 4x5 (Ilford Delta 100) and I'm prepared to try tray development--I realize that's what Steve Simmons recommends and that his site has an article on it. Sounds like a real PITA, though. I've recently picked up a ...

| 4 x 5, focusing ,depth of scale | 24 Oct 2005 02:02 GMT | 3 |
I am learning the ropes, and a few contributors to this NG have been very helpful. Can I ask a few more questions? The Sinar F1/F2 depth of scale calculator is based on the idea that there will be a 2 x enlargement. If this is correct, would I be right in saying

| Is the Sinar depth of field calculator the final answer? | 24 Oct 2005 00:29 GMT | 6 |
Is it as good as it sounds? No fiddling with focus tweaking tilts etc.? Or is it too good to be true?
