Rear tilt focus?20 Apr 2005 00:42 GMT21
Does the ability to tilt the rear of a view camera affect the focus in
any way? I use a Crown Graphic with the front standard reversed, and
front tilting usually does the job. However I'm often finding corners
to be a little soft.
Carl Zeiss Jena 21cm F6.316 Apr 2005 02:51 GMT14
I just aquired this lens and was wondering if anyone can tell me its age.
Its all brass, painted black, uncoated, no shutter, serial number 871006.
Has stop settings to F45. On the barrel is engraved IV1 and on the screw
mount (44mm) is engraved 1006.

If the link doesn't work, just go to the chicago tribune webpage, the

Just wondering how the Zeiss Planar got its name. Planar is a rather
ordinary word that means Plane. Does this suggest that the lens is best used
as a straight-on lens .. or what?

Speeed Graphic and the Hindenburg12 Apr 2005 15:44 GMT62
I teach photography and U.S. History at a high school in Washington
State, USA.  This week, I had a lesson on photojournalism and, in one
of the videos I used, there was talk of the photography of the
Hindenburg disaster.

Linhof Technika IV back10 Apr 2005 22:40 GMT3
I recently purchased an early Technika IV (s/n 63089). I noticed that
with my longest lens (210 mm) the corners of the image were getting
rounded off on the negative. I took a closer look at the camera, and
sure enough, the cutout in the camera back behind which the film sits
TOYO 45CF- can't swing10 Apr 2005 21:14 GMT2
Could somebody kindly enlighten me on how to swing the front of this camera?
The manual says just unlock the front standard lever, but that does not free
the front to swing. Thank you, and kindly reply to petelush@att.net
Regarding digital Capture and Traditional ends.06 Apr 2005 14:16 GMT1
Was just thinking maybe digital capture is
going about it all wrong. Would it be
feasible to capture to a sensor at a much smaller
but highly resolute image size than say what they do,
Linhof III "versions?"05 Apr 2005 15:03 GMT2
I see a couple of eBay items marked as Linhof Technikas III, "versions 4 and
5". Is that a proper way of describing the Technika III? Is there not a
single model Technica III? What's with the version designations?

Linhof Color view - nice surprise02 Apr 2005 17:23 GMT3
I acquired an excellent Linhof Color view camera for cheap to complement the
Technika. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Schneider f5.6 75mm
lens (mounted on the common recessed Linhof lens board) worked without a
bag-bellows; just move the tripod mount to in front of ...
Small Screws & Hardware - Web Source?02 Apr 2005 06:31 GMT7
Can anyone recomend a source on the web for small generic parts for LF
cameras?
I've got one of the old grey Calumet 4X5's.  It works fine; I like it.
But, two of the screws holding the lensboard clips gave up and broke of
121mm Super Angulon01 Apr 2005 20:11 GMT5
I have just got a 121mm S.A. mounted to a Plaubel lens panel.
The lens appears to be fitted into some kind of housing which has larger
rings for the shutter speeds.
However it looks like there is normal Compur shutter mounted into the
