Epson 4990 4x5 scanning experience?30 Apr 2005 13:47 GMT10
I have an Epson 4870 for scanning 4x5.  I've been scanning at
3200 ppi, but there is some internal buffer that limits the
scan length, so I must scan the 4x5's at this resolution
in two pieces and put them together in Photoshop.  Has anyone

Is it a Calumet C400, and is there a website or something on it?

Bellows repair28 Apr 2005 05:19 GMT2
My first attempt at repairing the bellows on my Korona 7 x 17 proved a
waste of time (black rubber compound from hardware store); worked but
didn't last. The 90-year-old bellows were showing their age. I feared
I'd have to shell out $300+ for new bellows since making my own seems
Caltar lens sharpness28 Apr 2005 02:30 GMT13
Hope that some of you may have experience with this lens and might have
a comment.
My Caltar 90mm HR f/5.6 lens does not seem to be as sharp as I would
expect, at least in comparison to my Schneider Symmar 180mm f/5.6.
Viewing the sun on ground glass27 Apr 2005 22:56 GMT7
It just came to my mind taking pictures the other day, I know you
don't look directly into the sun and especially not with binoculars,
but what about on the ground glass of a view camera? I've got
two objectives, one 90mm, the other 270. What's the practical
Perspective Off Topic.27 Apr 2005 14:31 GMT3
I have just been watching a TV Orchestra along with a solo piano.  One of
the (video) camera shots showed an oblique view along the keyboard of the
pianist playing.
The key board looked wider at the far end that at the near end and very much
8x10  B&J Grover27 Apr 2005 04:50 GMT2
I'm being offered an 8x10 Burke and James Grover (monorail).  The
bellows is in practically perfect shape.
Any positive or negative comments (all are welcome) from users or former
users?
Gossen Sinar Six - Film plane exposure meter ?24 Apr 2005 04:29 GMT2
I am looking at a Gossen Sinar Six exposure meter.
It appears that it is inserted in place of the film
holder on a 4x5 and meters the actual light falling
on the film plane.  Is this correct ? Will it work
Coverage of 90mm f/8 Ilex-Calumet Wide Field Caltar?22 Apr 2005 21:23 GMT8
Title says it all.  Serial number is 29XX.  I'm sure it's more than 4x5, but
am curious just how much more.
Thanks!

Here's an oddity21 Apr 2005 13:16 GMT5
Here's one that surely can't happen all too often.... especially this
many years after manufacture...
I have two old 90mm Schneider Angulons in my small collection of
lenses.. with sequential serial numbers... one straight after the
GOERZ TYPE R18 18 INCH F:11 LENS    Item number: 750950380021 Apr 2005 00:19 GMT1
Hey Team,
What was this Goerz lens designed to do?  I have never seen one of

And no I am not the one selling it on Ebay.  Just curious.
Satin Snow Ground Glass20 Apr 2005 15:27 GMT19
After a two month wait, my Satin Snow focusing screen arrived.  It's no
brighter than the original shen-hao screen, but makes for a low cost
replacement or backup.  I'm calling Bill Maxwell tomorrow.  I'd rather not
spend the $200+, but I don't like struggling to see my ...
LF Reflex Viewier20 Apr 2005 05:09 GMT11
I've been considering making a 4x5 reflex finder - just one mirror to put
the image upright (not correct L to R), mainly to obviate a dark cloth.
The question concerns the mirror. Do I need a surface plated mirror or would
a thin glass mirror suffice? If I need a surface plated ...
Polaroid Roll Film20 Apr 2005 05:06 GMT2
Does anyone know if backs were produced for MF/LF cameras using the now
discontinued Polaroid roll films i.e. type 40, 30 and 20?
Thanks
