| Lens Cement | 28 Feb 2005 22:36 GMT | 5 |
I decemented a couple old, yellowed, bubbled-up lenses today to find them just brilliant once the balsam was washed away. (It's exciting. Try it!) Now I'd like to cement them back together and try them out. What cement is recommended? I don't need something that requires exotic ...

I have a question for the experts in this group: Are the newer large format lenses good enough to demand scanner resolution of even 2500 DPI? Joe

| Imagon again | 28 Feb 2005 10:46 GMT | 1 |
See this: http://elearning.winona.edu/jjs/temp/imagon.jpg The lens is at the top. Simple, eh? Well, that's exactly like the old lens I decemented today. By exactly I mean the same two lens shapes in the same position, and about 200mm. No someone will tell me that the shapes mean

| backpack | 28 Feb 2005 04:05 GMT | 1 |
I'm trying to find a Domke OutPack backpack and I believe it's been discontinued. Is this correct? Do any of you here use one? Would you recommend it (if I can find one) or have you found better ones? This would be used with a Wista SP and approx. 3 lenses, Quickloads, meter, ...

| Empty NatureTrekker is 9lbs?!! | 28 Feb 2005 03:54 GMT | 4 |
I'm looking to buy a backpack for my Shen Hao, 3 lenses, 5-6 film holders, and maybe a small 35mm SLR with a lens or 2. This is for day-trips such as a 4-5 hour hike. I'm considering a Lowepro Nature Trekker AW II and a F64 "large" backpack

| homemade lens board | 28 Feb 2005 03:46 GMT | 19 |
I wanna try making a homemade lens board for my Shen Hao. I'm thinking wood will work if I bevel down the edges. Any ideas on where I can find a thin sheet of appropriate wood? Cherry wood? My hobby store has strips of basswood, but not wide enough. Hardware

| Fujinon Soft Focus Lens | 27 Feb 2005 14:57 GMT | 13 |
This is probably a dumb question, but the 250mm soft focus lens: It's a regular lens that one can use like any other LF lens; additionally, there are two disks (=filters?) that one can optionally use for increasing soft focusing?

| Opinions on Process Lenses... | 26 Feb 2005 21:03 GMT | 9 |
I've come across a large stash of process lenses etc. I've been trying to find info on some of the lesser seen optics and decided I'd post a list to see if anyone has used any of these. As you would expect, the majority are brass barrels. Opinions on any of them?

| Process Lenses, again | 26 Feb 2005 14:30 GMT | 2 |
Something has always puzzled me about process lenses, and I'm sure someone here can answer it for me: Why do process lenses often have such small _minimum_ apertures? In barrel one often sees f90 or f128 or even smaller, and when mountd in

| The Aviator (again) | 25 Feb 2005 17:14 GMT | 21 |
Someone was looking for gaffs in The Aviator? We just saw it. Good film! While I'm no nut for finding errors, I did notice a couple instances where it was clear the photographer was hitting the hot flash button instead of the shutter. I'm not sure how many of those flashes were ...

| Square pinhole | 22 Feb 2005 19:49 GMT | 18 |
Just curious... what would be the effect of a square pinhole (or a pinhole the same aspect ratio as the film format). Would vignetting still be radial? Would overall sharpness be less? Would overall sharpness be less/more/same than an equivalent circular pinhole of the ...
