Converting daylight film to tungsten13 Jan 2005 20:50 GMT7
Do you find the use of an 80A satisfactory when using daylight film
with 3200 K lights ? Is there "something missing"? Would tungsten film
be better? Why? I have not problem with the speed loss. Is you 80A the
same color as mine. My Tiffen is bluer than my Nikon, which is slightly

airline travel again07 Jan 2005 20:56 GMT16
Since there was a recent thread on airline travel with 4x5, I thought I'd
shared a very recent experience.
I just got back from a short vacation to Las Vegas and back.  I packed my
4x5 kit...a Shen Hao field camera, 8 film holders, 2 lenses, a roll-film
Smith lens?07 Jan 2005 08:52 GMT2
I've been reading a biography of Edward Steichen, and it mentions that
both Steichen and Stieglitz used a SMITH lens on their Graflexs.  I
don't seem to find any infomation on this, and wonder what it is/was
(apparently not just a brand-name, but a specific type of lens?).  TIA.
Horseman 6x9s: compatible lens boards?05 Jan 2005 20:50 GMT26
Sorry for crossposting in both MF and LF NG, but after all the
Horseman 980/985/VH are sort of a cross-product in my mind. :-)
I'm having a very hard time in finding lens boards for my 980 (I'm
looking for a Copal-0 standard board, a Copal-0 recessed board and a
Linhof Anatomical Grips03 Jan 2005 23:17 GMT1
I know Linhof changed the design of the mounting bracket for the Left
Anatomical Grip from a tapered to a parallel mount.  The question is, did
this also modify the spacing/size of the mounting holes for this bracket on
the camera body.  In other words, will the old tapered mounting ...
alternative process03 Jan 2005 20:01 GMT7
I am considering trying out gum oil, and other contact processes. I cannot find a source for building, or purchasing an appropriate uv light source. Any Ideas? I am currently shooting 4x5 but may go to 8x10 digital negs.
Schneider 121mm S.A. question....03 Jan 2005 18:04 GMT11
....Will it cover 8 X 10 ?
I thought I recalled ( but don't quote me) reading an interview with Clyde
Butcher a few years ago where he said that was his main lens for 8 X 10.
Anybody ?
images of horseman lensboards03 Jan 2005 09:14 GMT2
There was a thread down the list here regarding lensboards for the Horseman MF
technical cameras...in the course of the discussion someone suggested scanning
the lensboards and I was hoping to scan or photograph some of the details of
them so that some of the questions about them ...
Airline travel advice needed03 Jan 2005 02:19 GMT15

Film holders on Ebay02 Jan 2005 19:16 GMT18
So, I'm looking at finishing off this large-format kit I'm building, and I
don't want to pay $43 for two fidelity film holders, so I'm looking on ebay.
Thing is, a lot of them don't say much about the film holders, and I'm
unaware as to whether they're all interchangeable, or not ...
Vacuum backs (like the Linhof)02 Jan 2005 18:23 GMT1
According to http://www.linhof.de/english/, the Aero Technika 45L has a
vacuum rollfilm back. Do the earlier Linhof aerial cameras have the same, or
similar back?
Linhof Techinika III bellow begins to come off, again...02 Jan 2005 06:10 GMT5
Back in 1997 I remember having to re-glue the bellow onto my
Linhof Technnica III.  Low and behold the bellow is coming off
again.  When I went searching for some answers as to how to fix
it, again, I ran across my posting of 1997 regarding the matter,
Spanner Wrenches02 Jan 2005 01:21 GMT13
I've a copal 0 and copal 1 lens (1 each) and two appropriately cut
lensboards on their way (along with a Shen-Hao IIa field camera).  I
understand I need a spanner wrench to install them on the boards.  What from
this page looks right, or am I way out in left field here?
