Linhof Technika Questions11 Jul 2004 17:24 GMT3
I note that Linhof Technika cameras have individual cams for each lens. Is
it truly critical that each cam have the same serial number as the lens?
Does anyone make cams or adjust cams to work with mismatched cams?
Any other comments regarding the cameras? For example, the earlier ...
a humbler and new question10 Jul 2004 15:20 GMT18
The Humbler - Last week was one of those times where so much went wrong. A
real humbling experience. I got a consistent light leak in two good film
holders when working in bright sunlight with the new-used Sinar. See it on
the left of this image:http://course1.winona ...

Questions about olde tyme lens10 Jul 2004 00:18 GMT3
My latest find from *Bay just arrived: an old brass-n-chrome Bausch & Lomb
lens in shutter. Actually, I'm not sure just what to call it. There are three
names on it: "Victor" at the bottom on the aperture scale, Bausch & Lomb Opt.
Co. around the bottom of the lens, and R.O. & C. ...
Another Big Old Brass lens to try-- Emil Busch Rapid Aplanet No. 509 Jul 2004 23:58 GMT3
I have acquired another big brass lens: An Emil Busch Rapid Aplanet No.
5  Foc. 18 ins. (R.O.J.A. vorm Emil Busch A-G Rathenow). Built in iris with
f/8 thru 64 settings.
It came attached to a Thornton Pickard shutter that seems to function
contact print exposure time07 Jul 2004 18:44 GMT1
Many of the lamps in the old commercial contact printers are in the 25-40
watt range.  Try a smaller wattage lamp, maybe even a 15.  Look for a used
enlarging timer somewhere or pop for a new one.  You'll be glad you did.  A
Time-O-Lite with its auto reset feature is very convenient ...
Fun with a press camera05 Jul 2004 23:45 GMT27
My new toy - a 4x5 Crown Graphic - arrived late last
week, and I had some fun with it over the weekend.
I got it from B&H, who rated it 8 in their system.
KEH would call the camera "Bargain"-grade - obviously
I got one figured out !04 Jul 2004 01:15 GMT7
I was fortunate enough today to ruin a negative completely. Now while
that may sound terrible, at least I had one now that I could use to
practise loading and unloading with. Today, I had the same jamming
trouble when attempting to reinsert the dark slide. After completely
Image circle versus stopping down?    03 Jul 2004 14:41 GMT11
The way I understood it stopping down increased the image circle
because it improved the quality of the image. But then I found this quote
"4. Why does the size of the image circle in a Large Format lens change as
the lens is stopped down?
Once more into the breach!!02 Jul 2004 22:34 GMT3
Good morning all,
So it's dawned a lovely morning here in the Ottawa Valley. The weather
was a bit frightening earlier with thunder and lightning storms moving
thru'. It's cleared up a bit since then and promises to be a bright day
First effort - a bit nervous here!02 Jul 2004 16:31 GMT15
Well !!!
From previous posts, you will know that I am slowly getting into LF
photography a bit, and am in the process of building my own 8x10 unit,
but....in the meantime, seeing as how 4x5 film is about 1/3 or less of
How do I build my own large format lens?02 Jul 2004 15:44 GMT6
I'd like to build a simple lens for use with a large-format camera
using 'off the shelf' lenses such as those available from a scientific
catalog. Priorities are as follows (all are desireable - but 1 is most
important and 5 is least important):
Starting camera02 Jul 2004 13:36 GMT17
Folks,
I'm researching my first 4x5 camera (been a 35mm part-time
photographer for ~35 years) for my nature/landscape photography (Mt.
Rainier NP and environs) and city/townscapes.  I originally looked at

*%$@#*&^%$!!!!!!!!!!!01 Jul 2004 19:32 GMT9
Well, you've seen the post with a link to my first photo, which was very
much out of focus and (I think) overexposed. This evening, I had almost
exactly the same conditions as far as weather and light and clouds etc,
so out I went with my camera, spent about 20 minutes working ...
