Heliopan Filter Question16 Jul 2004 21:33 GMT3
I saw at HP Marketing's home page that there is a Heliopan filter size "145
x 1 mm". Well, I need a 145mm filter (exactly), but is the other dimension?
Seems to be too small to be the thickness.
What I truly need is 145mm diameter and 5 to 9mm thickness (wratten 61).  No

I'm ignorant and the seller doesn't know how to find out either.

Taming Tmax 10016 Jul 2004 07:17 GMT13
Frank, P! Still out there? Remember my loathing of Tmax, in particular
Tmax 100 (TMX 4052)? Since I was so strident, I think it is fair to follow
up after more  work. I had some better luck with it today under the
circumstances under which it disappointed me before - bright, clear,
scanner for scanning 5x7 glass plates?16 Jul 2004 06:36 GMT10
I will be needing to scan several hundred 5x7 glass negative plates
dating from around 1890-1920. I use a Macintosh G-4 with USB and
Firewire. I can use either system 9.2.2 or OS10.3.
Any new or used scanner suggestions? Somewhere between $400 to $800
Wisner bellows problems15 Jul 2004 23:58 GMT13
I'm looking for ideas on a bellows.
I have a Wisner 4x5 traditional, a 210 lens and a 110 lens. I find
that I have to use the regular bellows (23" max draw) for the 210 and
a bag bellows for the 110 (unless I have a shot with no movements).

One more Newbie Question15 Jul 2004 04:13 GMT3
In large format a 127mm and 150mm lens is equivalent to what size 35mm lens
?  I am trying to figure out what size lens I need for landscape. Thanks for
all the help on the film holder question I posted a few days ago. Matt
Wista Technician RF vs. Linhof Master Technica14 Jul 2004 03:54 GMT1
I would be very interested in opinions contrasting the Wista Technician RF &
the Linhof Master Technica - besides the price. (The Linhof is priced on
some other planet.)
My use would be for 90mm to approx 240mm lenses.

Possible Newbie Question13 Jul 2004 17:38 GMT15
I am familiar with medium format, but know nothing about large format. I am
thinking about renting or purchasing a used large format camera to see if I
like it. However, I have a few questions. If I am using 4x5 sheet film on
location do I need a lot of film holders that have been ...
Thank you12 Jul 2004 22:52 GMT4
A quick note is in order here, to say thank you to all the folks here
who have helped me to get started in this large format photography hobby
- so -  THANK YOU!! I am really enjoying this, even though my success
rate for contact prints is running at something less than 50% of ...
contact print exposure time12 Jul 2004 22:48 GMT15
This afternoon, having finally made a negative with proper focus, I
decided to make a contact print. I had never done this before, and I've
got to say it wasn't a lot of fun at first. I read all the stuff on the
web that I could find about making test strips etc..but when I tried ...
Spare parts for Crown Graphic camera12 Jul 2004 15:09 GMT5
I've been lucky to pick-up one of the late Crown Graphic Special
models a few months ago and, though I am quite satisfied with the
camera, I would have some things improved:
 1) The ground grass' surface is not evenly coated in sense that it
