Request comments on this package23 Jun 2004 07:21 GMT1
I have an opportunity to purchase a Calumet Monorail camera package
for $650.  I am a complete newbie to LF.  The camera really doesn't
appeal to me due to its size and weight (I'd prefer a field or
similar), however I see this as a potential opportunity to acquire
newbie:  LF for hiking and landscapes?22 Jun 2004 13:18 GMT30
I've been a 35mm enthusiast for the last 24 months (since I took up
photography).  However once I tried printing a 6x6 B&W negative from a $50
YashicaMat ebay purchase (on a whim), I saw how much more beautiful my
11x14 and 16x20 prints could be with a larger negative.  The problem ...
Formula for pre-focusing22 Jun 2004 02:55 GMT9
Is there a formula to calculate the required distance between the lens board
and the film plane for an object at a given distance from the camera?
Thanks in advance.

Questions Abound Maxwell Screens 21 Jun 2004 13:21 GMT15
I've used BosScreens on several cameras and liked them, I've used Fresnel
screens on several cameras and haven't liked them. My principal problems
with Fresnels have been the difficulty of focusing because of the "grain"
you see with a loupe and the "bright circle in a dark field" ...

but what is the wide open aperture. Would love to try this on my Deardorff.
Any one here know so I can get some type of idea to ...

second will be in the July/Aug 04 View Camera. The result seem consistent in
both tests

Graflex lens question on coverage19 Jun 2004 23:27 GMT3
Will a Graflex f 4.7 135mm lens fit and operate on a 2 x 3 Speed Graphic
without major problems? This was normal lens for 4 x 5.
The building continues...19 Jun 2004 23:05 GMT1
Recently I posted a WTB ad for a film holder in 8"x10". Having rec'd one
recently from a gentleman on the group, I am now able to continue
building the camera. This afternoon, I dug up some more scrap wood in
the basement, created a box corner jig and have built (but not finished ...
16.5" Red Dot Artar Coverage?18 Jun 2004 22:49 GMT2
Was it on this list that someone recently inquired as to the coverage of a
16.5" Red Dot Artar?  I have an old Scheider brochure that lists lens
coverage.  Coverage for this lens is listed as 356mm at f16.
Anyone have experience using 35mm tilt & shift ?17 Jun 2004 13:28 GMT17
Please forgive me for asking this question in lg. format NG. But I'm
hoping that you folks might know more about this, than the people at
smaller format NGs.
I've been invited to be to participate in an architectural project.
Thread Adapters16 Jun 2004 07:28 GMT1
Are there readily-available thread adapters for putting a lens built
for a Copal/Compur #3 into, perhaps, an Ilex #4? (or whatever would be
the suitable version)
TIA,
