need short mount/process lens for bellows.23 Mar 2004 00:45 GMT15
Which of the bellows lenses / short mount lenses / process lenses, in
the 150mm to 200mm or so range, give the very sharpest images in the
center of the image at infinity and semi-closeup.  I would be using it
on small format photography on a bellows which has some tilt/shift
Transporting Monorails23 Mar 2004 00:15 GMT8
Considering buying a Cambo monorail and a couple of lenses, and was just
wondering what sort of bag/case/big cardboard box would be recommended for
transporting such a beast?

Digital view camera?22 Mar 2004 18:26 GMT31
December 2003 issue of Outdoor Photographer covered Steven Johnson's work.
He's got a Sinar something with a digital scanner back, exposures take over
a minute to make.  Hard to tell what sort of work from magazine photos, or
from jpegs, for that matter, but apparently he's ...
4x5 negs on cheaper scanners's22 Mar 2004 13:12 GMT3
I was out looking at some scanners the other day and most of the scanners in
the "less expensive" range have facilities for scanning 35 mm negs and slides.
What I was wondering was if it was possible to do 4x5 negs on these scanners?
I realize the light source with these ...

a question of B/W film21 Mar 2004 12:47 GMT9
There was once a film made by Kodak, black and white
which was not sensitive to red light, and could be as out
in the open and undeveloped under red light, Pan -
something I think ... anyone remember this? Does anyone

Not a big repair.
Anyway, I'm just looking for on-line instructions.
Lens/Tripod/Tripod Head HELP Needed20 Mar 2004 02:54 GMT10
I have a Linhof technikardan 45 (not s) that I bought used last summer and
I am still trying to put my kit together. So FRUSTRATING.
I have two lenses in my kit, a Rodenstock Grandagon-N 90 f/6.8 in Prontor
01 and a Linhof Symmar-S 150 f/5.6.
wooden 4x5 film holders19 Mar 2004 15:47 GMT61
Yes I know they are a bad money risk and this must be an
old standbye question ... but they are very cheap and I
wonder if there are tutorials on how to restore them to
light tightness? Electrical tape on the dark slide edges?
Petzval original formula? Asymmetrical menisci pair?19 Mar 2004 15:04 GMT12
I would like to try approximating an old lens a step up from a single
meniscus for experiments with a view camera.
I have some 'real' lenses but am really attracted to experiments.
I am looking for some guidance, discussion, etc. with finding and
Shutter timing19 Mar 2004 04:24 GMT12
How can I go about timing the shutter speeds of my old shutters (Compurs,
Ilex, etc.)?  Is there a technique and/or some inexpensive equipment to do
this, or does this require an expert (and what can I expect to pay for such
a service)?
LF in public19 Mar 2004 03:46 GMT76
I recently got a new (really new, not just new to me) wood field
camera to get some movements after a year and a half of using
my father's Speed Graphic exclusively.  I've been trying it out
by taking photographs of buildings up and down my one street
home-made 11 x 14 film holder?18 Mar 2004 04:28 GMT3
Anyone have an idea how to make an 11 x 14 film holder? I want to build an
11 x 14 pinhole camera so I don't want to drop a couple of hundred bucks on
a film holder?
Thanks,
Nearly Broke my dang leg with that LF thang.17 Mar 2004 19:16 GMT11
Thought you might enjoy a good laugh, went out this morning to get a few
more winter shots. Went up to a Local Park  and the stream that runs through
the park along the road. Got set up with my 4x5 on a rather slick boulder,
very carefully, but alas I stepped back and slid. I felt ...
