 Thanks for replying in advance.
Am moving to Bel Air Maryland and would like to become involved with a camera
club in the area if there is one.  Any help is appreciated.  I am on the Board

Calumet 540 Chrome 4x5?30 Mar 2004 16:08 GMT3
I've been wondering if these cameras are fairly decent. I'm looking to get a LF
camera (with tilts and swings) and noticed these are relatively cheap without
lens/lensboards.
Any information is appreciated.
Question for backpackers29 Mar 2004 05:02 GMT9
I've never seen this addressed in any reading, and now that I've
finally got a 4x5 I'm wondering....
For those of you who backpack with more than one lens, do you
carry the lenses mounted on the boards, or do you just bring one

This is what's on my Pacemaker Crown Graphic.
now then: It is said that the lens just covers 4x5 at infinity.
Can any user of this lens inform me just how much I can enlarge any
resulting negatives before the corners are obviously soft?
Shutter repair27 Mar 2004 16:12 GMT26
Recently I tryed to enter a large-format fotography by acquiring an
old Graflex Crown special model at eBay. I am residing in Italy and it
would be quite hard to find those inexpensive cameras here and so I
decided to pick one in the US. I had a friend there, coming to visit
Kodak 2D 8x10 camera repairs26 Mar 2004 16:25 GMT4
I've been looking at an old Kodak 2D 8x10 camera as a project -  The
bellows have many holes (looks like it is falling apart from age) and
the ground glass is 1/2 broken out.  Would it be feasible to refinish
the wood (that is in decent condition) and add a new bellows and
90mm for travel and backpacking26 Mar 2004 14:50 GMT28
I'm shopping for a small lightweight 90mm for use on a 4x5. I'm
considering the Angulon F6.8 (non super), the Geronar F8 (hard to
find), Wollensal/Optar F6.8 (I think they are the same), and the
Wollensak Series IIIa EX.W.A. 3 1/2 inch. Realising that there is a
Opinions on Epson 4870 Scanner26 Mar 2004 04:03 GMT2
In my search for a scanner to do neg and slide formats from 35 mm up to 4x5 it
seems Epson scanners are well thought of.  I was leaning towards the 3200
Photo but have now been imformed that it has been replaced by the 4870.  I'm
interested in the 4870 "Photo" not the 4870 "Pro". ...
Shen-Hao 6x12 Roll Film Back26 Mar 2004 04:00 GMT2
Has anyone had practical experience with the Shen-Hao 6x12 Roll Film
Back?
At $395 it's a lot cheaper than other brands.

Fluid lenses25 Mar 2004 15:03 GMT3
I read about this in a Spanish speaking photo-list, take a look if you wish,
click on "Philips's fluid lenses bring things into focus" at the right
marging of the following page, BTW, this technique emulates the way our eyes
focus, by changing the shape of the lens:
Lens Board24 Mar 2004 06:06 GMT9
I've just acquired a Newton "New Vue" 4x5 camera for my introduction to
large format photography.  The camera did not come with a lens board. So,
here's my questions:
1.  Are lens boards relatively standard amongst 4x5 cameras?  In other

I have a Wista Field DX camera. The focussing is very rough.
I would appreciate suggestions on how to solve this problem.

Cooke Series II -Anastigmat lens-205mm.f4.5-13x18cm24 Mar 2004 04:04 GMT1
I've acquired this lens yesterday, and perhaps someone can help with
the meaning of the indication that is near the f22 aperture engraving:
"EXT 324 mm". There is two aperture marks, at max aperture, one is at
4.5 obviously, and the other at 8. I suppose this triplet is not
CONTAX ZEISS YASHICA COMPLETE 35MM SYSTEM PLUS MORE24 Mar 2004 03:50 GMT1
I know this is the LARGE format newsgroup but this system may appeal to many
in here . . . perhaps a friend just getting into photography.
Here is a complete and beautiful 35mm system I have listed on ebay. Take a
look and make me an offer I cannot refuse. The ebay item number is
