I'm making a simple gif picture as reference in order to represent the various photo formats. I assumed as standard the following sizes (exposed film area expressed in millimeters):

| Mamiya "G" Adapter - What size Graflock back? | 20 Dec 2003 14:21 GMT | 3 |
Does the Mamiya "G" Adapter give you the equivalent of a 2x3 Graflock back or a 4x5 Graflock? I can't see a 2x3 back being all that useful, except for a rollfilm holder.

| Help - how to use a convertible lens | 19 Dec 2003 08:50 GMT | 4 |
Can anyone tell me how to use a Turner-Reich Anast.F:7.0 Ser.II # 5 Antistigmat Gundlach Manhattan Optical co. Rochester N.Y. Convertible large format lens (8x10). I recently found one on ebay and I understand that the lens elements can be rearranged to make 3 different focal ...

| older convertible lenses | 18 Dec 2003 01:01 GMT | 1 |
My experience is limited but here is my best guess. All put togther this lens has a focal lenght of X. When you remove the front element the focal length is X plus about 60%. When you remove the front element and place the rear element in the front of the shutter you have almost 2X.

| When did Sheet Film replace Glass Plates? | 17 Dec 2003 03:34 GMT | 16 |
When did sheet film replace glass plates for large format photography? Of course roll film has been around since the late 1880s, but I notice that Ansel Adams recounts carrying glass plates up Half Dome in 1929 when he made his first pre-visualized image. By the time I

| 200 mm Nikkor lens for 5x4 | 17 Dec 2003 02:58 GMT | 10 |
I would welcome opinion: For general landscape work (only slight movements), is the 200 M series Nikkor outperformed by the 210 W lens? I'm talking about fall-off and sharpness at normal taking apertures.

| Optar/Tele-Optar serial numbers and production year | 16 Dec 2003 20:33 GMT | 2 |
I bought a Graflex Optar WA f6.8 90mm lens in a recessed board for 5 Canadian dollars, and a 25CM Graflex TELE-Optar f5.6 lens for 30 Canadian dollars today, both are mounted in Graphex shutters. The seller thought the WA90 did not work, thus the low price.

| How to hand hold a Graphic | 16 Dec 2003 16:06 GMT | 12 |
I have a Crown Graphic in the post to me. I am wondering how to use it hand held for max stability. Should I have my right hand under the bed & trip the shutter with a cable release or hold the body with my right hand with the same cable release.

| The 8x10 newbie blog continues | 14 Dec 2003 22:26 GMT | 2 |
I had time today to shoot one frame, process, & print a contact sheet. This time the results were better. The lens used was an old Wollensak 6 1/4" f12.5 Extreme W.A. (158mm) 8x10 lens. (From now on I'll have to rack the back up onto the bed!)
