Tension Adjustment on Aperture Setting Lever19 Aug 2003 14:46 GMT1
I have a No.1 Copal shutter that, since new, has a relatively loose aperture
setting lever compared to my other lens. The tension is sufficient to hold
its position, but I'd like to increase it to safeguard against accidental
movement. Aside from adding friction via a felt ...
crappy lens please19 Aug 2003 13:09 GMT22
I am wondering if anyone can suggest a really bad lens for 4x5 work.
I'm serious. All of my large format lenses are super-sharp, and just
too good. I've grown tired of this look; I want my personal work to
take on a more impressionistic feel. Sort of like the Holga look,
Giant camera film holders19 Aug 2003 02:47 GMT3
I am building at present a giant view camera (12x16) and I am wondering
whether film holders are available for this size of negatives - new or
second hand.
Any help would be appreciated
Proofing LF with digital prints?17 Aug 2003 19:50 GMT1
With digital printing services so abundant and affordable nowdays, has
anyone used them to proof their LF colour negs? or is the quality of these
digital prints not much more superior than inkjets prints for general
proofing?
Overdevelopment at Film Edges .....17 Aug 2003 00:06 GMT12
So, I have overdelevlopment at film edges. How do I have more even
development. (Ok maybe this is a RTFM questions so I just re-read the View
Camera PDF on the subject of development and te Kodak technical papers)
Maybe it is because I have not rotated the tray 90 degrees so that ...
Ansel Adams: boo or yea16 Aug 2003 22:13 GMT61
Opinions, please, on Ansel Adams's work in general. Do you like it or not?
As for me, no. Do not like it in general.
Any Distortion with a 135mm on a 4x5?16 Aug 2003 04:24 GMT2
Thinking about picking up a Schneider or Rodenstock 135mm for my 4x5
to have something a little wider than normal. Is there any noticable
distortion? If not how wide can I go without it distorting?
Aluminum cases for 4X5 monorails?14 Aug 2003 16:47 GMT6
I have a Calumet 400 series monorail (4X5) and can't seem to find an aluminum
case or tool box that will accomodate the dimensions. The rail is 20".
Has anyone had any success in finding a supplier?
Gossen Luna Pro batteries13 Aug 2003 19:08 GMT1
Does anyone have an opinion comparing the Luna Pro battery adapter kit
(converting from mercury batteries) with the Wein Cell battery MR B625?

What effect does reciprocity failure have on contrast?12 Aug 2003 23:09 GMT7
Reciprocity failure is not a function only of time, but of a
combination of time and photon count (light level).  Therefore...
With reciprocity failure the shadows could be expected to go to cr*p,
simply because that's where the photons aren't.  In fact, I think I
2004 Large Format Conference12 Aug 2003 04:10 GMT1
We are planning our large format conference for either May or June 2004 in
Monterey, CA (so much history is there).
We would like suggestions as to seminar topics, field trips with instructors,
opening night presentation, etc.
Camera Movement11 Aug 2003 21:13 GMT5
My camera sometimes moves when I insert the film holder. I know I may be too
agressive with inserting the holder but this is a fairly new phenomena. I
think the cork on the top of the Gitzo tripod head had worn too smooth. I am
considering gluing some super stick matting to the top ...
Bag Bellows Material11 Aug 2003 17:01 GMT2
I'm building a special use camera primarily out of Toyo 4x5  parts. I
need a bag bellows a bit differant than the Toyo, and decided to make
it myself.
The outside leather type material is easy enough to find. My question
tripod repair11 Aug 2003 16:44 GMT1
Although it is less than ideal for a LF camera, I'll post the question with
this newsgroup.
I have a older Tiltall that I would like to get repaired, hopefully. Can
anyone steer me toward the possiblity of such? I would greatly appreciate
