Ebay is about to make me the proud parent of an 8x20 Korona Panoramic
view camera this week.  The camera has a rear extension track but I'm
not sure of the maximum extension or size of the lensboards.  Does any
one know?  I'm assuming the lensboard is 6 1/2" square as with some
Tachihara 4x5 Wood Field View20 Jul 2003 18:58 GMT11
I've been doing my LF work, mostly landscape, architectural, and some
interiors with the Sinar F, which I really like; however, it is a bear to
pack up and take with me.  I'm considering purchasing a Tachihara 4x5 field
camera for those out of state trips.  Does anyone have any ...
finally 4x5 20 Jul 2003 09:16 GMT11
I have been wanting a large format camera for some time now. This week I ran
across a good deal on a used 4x5 Tachihara to get started with so I'm one
step closer. Now all I need is film holders, lens, shutter and board. This
past fall I returned to school full time to finish my ...
Books and reference on shutter CLA and basic repair20 Jul 2003 00:58 GMT2
I know, I know, I know...  smart people send their shutters to Grimes
or Camera Wiz, and fools like me try to clean and adjust them
themselves...
So for fools like me, what are the basic books/articles/references on
Disappointed with Toyo focusing cloth - Is there better ?19 Jul 2003 18:18 GMT1
I just bought a Toyo-Professional Focus Cloth Black & White from a local
store. I took it home and tried it outside in bright sun. Light poured
thru the weave. Yes, in bright sun I could still see the gg to focus,
but still, I got better dark with a terry cloth towel.  I have used ...

Source of Grafmatic septums18 Jul 2003 01:43 GMT3
wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction. Having recently
acquired a boxfull of 4x5 Grafmatics, and checked them all over, repairing
as necessary, I find I have 4 complete working with septums, 5 spare
septums, 3 working with no septums and a holder carcass missing ...
processinf B&W in PMK16 Jul 2003 22:01 GMT4
Here's the deal. I have a job to photograph 4 people in a family
(individually) and make Platinum prints. I have a 5X7 view camera that
I've not used for anything like this. I know Platinum is a contact
process and 5x7 is ok with the customers. The question is, which film
New Cooke Portrait Lens (Examples)15 Jul 2003 18:24 GMT5
Has anyone out there used the new Cooke PS945 portrait (229mm, f4.5)
lens for 4x5 format cameras?
I am thinking about maybe getting one, but I need to see some photo
examples.  There is a website that linked off of the cooke site that had
Polaroid type 79 vs Fujicolor?15 Jul 2003 16:44 GMT3
Polaroid Type 59 film (and the pack version 559) gives beautiful
results in bright light.  However, the moment I get out of the sun,
and have to start using long exposures, it shifts toward green/cyan,
and I have to use filters to keep a reasonable color balance.  For a
Lens and Shutter Question(s013 Jul 2003 21:09 GMT5
I am going to be buying an LF camera, probably a Toyo 45CF. I mainly do
landscapes, but also stills and macros. It seems for starters I would buy a
90mm and a 210mm lens. I think I've settled on Rodenstocks. My questions:
B&H lists two Rodenstock 90s, one f/4.5 Copal #1 and an f/6.8 ...
Linhof Technikardan 4X513 Jul 2003 19:03 GMT5
Does anyone know of a serious reason why I should not purchase a used but
as new Linhof Technikardan 4X5? This baby comes with 4 lenses (75/5.6
Super Angulon, 120/5.6 Super-Symmar, 180/5.6 Apo-Symmar and 240 god-wot
tele), two
Symmar-S, for close up?12 Jul 2003 06:39 GMT1
I recently read that Symmar-S is of symmetrical design. I wonder if
this means that it's optimize for close up work. Any experience with
such application?
thanks
Plaubel 8 X 1011 Jul 2003 05:53 GMT3
I no sooner  expressed an interest in large format photography this very day
and I meet a guy, friend of a friend, who starts talking about his large
format camera he never uses.
It is a Plaubel 8 X 10 camera with a 4X5 back.  He described it as having
Graflex 4x5"?10 Jul 2003 22:32 GMT6
Is a Graflex 4x5" camera with a Schneider symmar 150/5.6 a good entry to
large format photography?
The Graflex is the model which looks quite similar to the Linhof Technika
which can be folded into a small box. The Graflex is in good condition. The
